DESIGN
Getting this device will make you feel like you’re holding a Porsche car in your hands. It has an aluminium alloy overall unibody and covered exquisitely in glass, making it reflect light in the most stunning way. With its IP67 certifications, you can enjoy the device underwater or while swimming.
The smartphone is water and dust resistant, for not more than 1mtr underwater and up to 30 minutes. The triple rear set-up adds to the beauty of this device, there’s a rear fingerprint scanner as well. It measures 8.5mm in thickness and weighs 183g, probably because of the battery.
DISPLAY
Porsche made sure the trending notched screen didn’t find its way to the device. Nonetheless, its a bezel-less screen dishing out an 18:9 aspect ratio and has an in-display fingerprint scanner as well. The bottom bezel houses the Porsche logo, as the company marked its territory.
The 6-inch FHD+ AMOLED capacitive touchscreen is absolutely phenomenal. With a resolution of 1440 x 2880 pixels and 538 pixels per inch density, you’ll see everything in amazing detail. The screen stretches up to 83.5% screen-to-body ratio, giving you the full view experience.
HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE
As a premium device much is expected in terms of performance and the Huawei Mate RS Porsche Design doesn’t disappoint. Running the race here is Huawei’s Hisilicon Kirin 970 chip with 8-Cores processor and 64-bit CPU architecture. The octa-core processor runs at a blazing speed of 2.4GHz with a fast 10nm process technology. The Mali-G72 MP12 graphics processor handles everything graphics related.
For multitasking, there’s a massive 6GB of RAM space available, with a memory speed of over 1.8GHz. In terms of storage, there are two variants here, there’s a standard version with 512GB and another with 256GB. You won’t be able to upgrade further, so you have to choose wisely here. The Mate RS Porsche Design comes with the same camera setup on the P20 Pro. The triple 40MP + 20MP + 8MP combination does magic in terms of taking photographs. The 40MP shooter has f/1.8 aperture, 1/1.7″ sensor size and OIS. While the 20MP and 8MP shooter has f/1.6 and f/2.4 aperture respectively.
