LG G7 ThinQ launched with Notch Screen and AI Powered Cameras

The LG G7 ThinQ has officially been launched after several leaks and rumours. The G7 ThinQ will be LG’s flagship smartphone for the year 2018, joining other leading brands like Samsung and Sony. Even though most recent smartphones come with AI features, LG still went ahead to include the weird “ThinQ” name to signify the G7 has the feature.

This is coming after the company struggled in the first quarter of 2018 in the Phone department, accounting for over $120 million loss. However, the LG G7 ThinQ might be a game changer for the company in the second quarter. Flowing with the current trend, the device ships with the trending notched screen. The 6.1-inch screen dishes out a 19.5:9 aspect ratio with 3120 x 1440 pixels in resolution.

The Full Vision M+ panel relies on LCD technology, using an RGBW arrangement and the extra pixels to improve contrast. The screen delivers a brightness of over 1000 nits, has HDR 10 compliant and a Gorilla Glass 5 protective layer. When you look closely at the notch, there’s a hardware assistant button which integrates with Google assistant. Making this the first Google Assistant hardware button to appear on a smartphone.

Apart from being smart underneath, the LG G7 ThinQ looks absolutely stunning outside as well. Sporting an aluminium frame with another Gorilla Glass 5 at the back. The entire body of the LG G7 ThinQ has IP68 certifications and MIL-STD-810G compliant. Irrespective of the glass back, it supports wireless charging which enables you to charge the 3,000 mAh battery. It also supports up to Quick Charge 3.0 through the Type-C port, while the Qnovo battery tech should prolong the battery endurance.

For photography, there’s a dual 16MP + 16MP rear shooters with f/1.6 and f/1.9 aperture lens, both are AI-powered. The first camera at the top has a 71-degree field of view, the other, with a super wide 107-degree. Features on the cameras include OIS, phase detection, laser autofocus and fixed focus.
