The upcoming OnePlus 8 series smartphone now officially has a launch date. According to the company’s Twitter account, the series will launch on the 14th of April 2020. This year OnePlus is tagged – “Lead with Speed”.
The launch event will be live-streamed on OnePlus’s official website and YouTube. The event will begin at 3 PM UTC. Based on a teaser image on the company’s website, they will likely also launch the OnePlus 55″ Q1 Pro TV to the global market.
From what we have gathered so far, the OnePlus 8 series will feature the Vanilla, Lite and Pro models. According to various sources, the Lite model won’t be launch on the 14th of April. It will likely debut after the Vanilla and Pro models have hit the market.
The vanilla model will feature a 90Hz refresh rate display while the Pro model comes with a 120Hz refresh rate. We should also expect Snapdragon 865 SoC with 5G modem for both the vanilla and pro models.
The lite model will likely come with a MediaTek chipset (most likely the Dimensity chipset). The phone might be called the “OnePlus Z” and will feature a dual rear camera with a price tag under $500/€490/£405.
