How to share or Repost Images and Videos on Instagram

In this post, I will take you on How to share or Repost Images and Videos on Instagram. Instagram is a popular social media platform and most smartphones users have the Instagram app installed. Now, unlike the other popular social media websites like Facebook, Twitter and the rest, Instagram doesn’t have an option to share or repost other people’s images or videos on the platform.

On a website like Twitter you could simply retweet a tweet image or even video but that isn’t the case with Instagram. It is also very unlikely for Instagram to introduce an option for this on the app in the near future although, nothing is impossible. Anyway, we will be showing you how you can share or repost images and videos from other Instagram account to your Instagram.

How to share or Repost Images and Videos on Instagram

The first and obvious way will be to take a screenshot of the image you would like to repost, crop and repost or you can simply use an app that can download images and videos from Instagram and Download the image or video and re-upload it. However, I’d advice against doing this as Instagram are very strict with posting contents that aren’t yours without giving credit to the owner of the content. Instagram can also ban your account for this if the owner of the content decides to report you. Nonetheless, you can still use the method above if you give credit to the original content owner by putting the Instagram handle/name in your caption or on the image or video.

Alternatively, you can use a third-party app from the Google Play Store if you’re using an Android device or Apple App Store if you’re using an iOS device. These Instagram repost app on the app store for both platforms can also do the job and always include the handle of the Instagram you’re reposting from in the images or videos so you’re giving the original content owner credit and as such, won’t get reported or have your account taken down by Instagram.

My favourite App to do this is the Repost Photo & Video for Instagram App which has an impressive 4.7 ratings on the Google Play Store with over 1Million Downloads. Best part? It weighs just 12MB. This is the app we will be using in this tutorial. Other Instagram repost apps have that same procedure so it shouldn’t be any trouble if you decide to use another app.

How to Repost Images and Videos on Instagram

  1. Open the Instagram App and Locate the Post (Video or Photo) you would like to download.
  2. Open the Post and Click on the three dots at the top right corner and Select Copy Link from the list of short options.
  3. Now Quit the Instagram App and Launch/Open the Repost App you have. You might need to Log in for the first time.
  4. After that, Provide the link and the photo/video will be downloaded, a watermark of the Instagram account you got the content from will be added to the photo or Video and you will be taken to Instagram to post it.

That’s pretty much it. This way, you get to give the give original content owner credit without including in your caption. If you have or know of any other way to repost Instagram photos and videos on the platform other than the two listed here, be sure to let us know in the comment section Down below so we can include it.
