If reports making the rounds are true, the Galaxy S9 may get all the first batch of the Snapdragon 845 chips from Qualcomm. In August, they were rumours that Samsung was planning to buy up almost all available Snapdragon 845 chips. This was exactly what happened with the Snapdragon 835, Samsung bought all available units of that chip for the Galaxy S8 and S8+. Thereby, forcing LG to use the old Snapdragon 821 in its flagship device the G6. This also caused other companies to postpone their flagship launches till the later part of this year. According to a new report, it seems the whole first production of the new chipset will be sold solely to Samsung for its S9 phones. Although, other smartphone makers will definitely get access to the Snapdragon 845 chips. But this will be at a later point compared to Samsung will get the chipset. This will also beam advantage to Samsung, compared to its competitors from this point of view. The report is also claiming that the S9 duo will be launching a month earlier than usual, this means the Galaxy S9 and S9+ will be in stores in mid-March 2018. Which means an announcement at MWC in late February seems likely. Samsung, however, have neither debunked nor reacted to the reports at the moment, it does confirm earlier rumours. I mean if they actually bought all the available Snapdragon 845 chips for their flagship Galaxy S9 and S9+ smartphones, an earlier launch is surely inevitable. Samsung wants to be the first smartphone manufacturer to use the Qualcomm 845 chipset before it gets to other manufacturers.
