Alcatel 1X Full Specifications Review and Price

The Alcatel 1X is one of the smartphones launched in Barcelona at the 2018 Mobile World Congress, the device was introduced alongside other affordable Alcatel smartphones. Alcatel is known for releasing affordable smartphones, and the Alcatel 1X is no exception.

It is an affordable device offering true value for money and boasting a bezel-less display. The bezel-less trend was rampant at the MWC and Alcatel didn’t want to lag behind. Without further ado, meet the Alcatel 1X.

ALCATEL 1X DESIGN

It’s a budget smartphone so I wasn’t expecting a premium design. It sports an overall plastic back that is removable as well. The device is very portable to hold and weighs just 151g making it easy to operate with one hand.

Alcatel 1X

There’s a rear camera at the top middle and a Dual-LED flash underneath, while the Alcatel logo follows suit. Turning over to the side, it measures 9.1mm slim which is the typical thickness of most budget smartphones. It is available in Blue, Black, Gold and Rose Gold colours.

ALCATEL 1X DISPLAY

I won’t call it a bezel-less smartphone as it couldn’t get to the 70% mark, reaching just 69.6% screen to body ratio. But the company tried for a budget smartphone even though the screen to body ratio can still be better.

Focusing on the screen, the 5.3-inch FWVGA+ IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen is pretty disappointing for a budget phone in 2018. It has just 960 x 480 pixels in resolution and 203 pixels per inch density. Although, it has an 18:9 aspect ratio like most flagships but the details on the screen won’t be that sharp as most budget devices.

HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE

Under the hood is a MediaTek MT6739 chip with Quad-core processor. The processor reaches a maximum speed of just 1.3 GHz and has a 64-bit CPU architecture. The PowerVR GE8100 graphics processor is in charge of graphics with 28nm process technology.

There are two versions in terms of RAM space, a standard version with 2GB RAM and a much cheaper variant with just 1GB RAM. In terms of storage, it has a standard 16GB storage space to accommodate all files. The 1X runs on Android 8.0 Oreo operating system out of the box.

CAMERA

The 13MP rear camera shouldn’t be underestimated, capturing 4K resolution images with ease. The camera comes with a f/2.0 aperture and photographs taken with it can boast up to 4163 x 3122 pixels in dimension. A dual-LED flash is beside the camera to help out in low light environments. For selfies lovers, it has a 5MP front-facing camera.

BATTERY

If a big battery is the reason you buy a phone, the Alcatel 1X might disappoint you as it has a Non-Removable Li-Ion 2460mAh battery.

PRICE AND AVAILABILITY

Alcatel 1X will be available for about $109 from March, that’s about (N30,000 – N40,000)
