Android 8.0 Oreo Now Available for OnePlus 3, 3T

OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T are now receiving Android 8.0 Oreo, while OnePlus 5 is now receiving OxygenOS 4.5.13 update. OnePlus was among various smartphone brands that promised an Android 8.0 Oreo update for its flagship devices when Google announced it for the first time.

The company said that the OnePlus 5, OnePlus 3 and 3T will receive the new Android 8.0 Oreo update. After releasing the new interface in closed beta, the tech company has now made it available through the Open Beta. Additionally, the OnePlus smartphones listed above are also receiving the new OxygenOS 4.5.13 update with various improvements.

The company initially made first Android Oreo open beta update available to OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T users. OnePlus 3T and OnePlus 3 users will also receive Oxygen OS Open Beta 16 and Open Beta 25 respectively. For more details, the company has detailed flash recommendations on how to download the latest update. Before updating, it is essential users back up all their personal data, even in cases where a data wipe is not necessarily needed.

As expected, the new build for the devices upgrades the OS version to Android 8.0 Oreo with new exciting features like picture-in-picture for supporting apps like YouTube and Maps. There’s also a new auto-fill feature, new quick Settings design, new smart text selection and upgraded security patch to September. OnePlus also explained that the new interface will bring some changes with it, especially to the launcher which will see notification dots integrated and users will be able to upload photos directly to social media app Shot on OnePlus.

Coming to OnePlus 5, the Chinese company really loves updating their Oxygen OS. Just days after rolling out OxygenOS v4.5.12 for the OnePlus 5, they have now released the OxygenOS 4.5.13 update. According to the company, the new update for OnePlus 5 will be released over-the-air (OTA) ‘incrementally’, which is a code word for a ‘phased rollout’. The company also noted that a broader rollout will start in a few days.

Although the changelog for the update looks more or less similar to exactly what we saw in their last update. The OxygenOS 4.5.13 update for the OnePlus 5 offers support for customisation of notification ringtone, optimises adaptive brightness, improves opening speed of apps and fixes the problem of YouTube videos lagging behind the audio.

The update offers fixes for display problems of some UI elements and also fixes the problem of no 4G+ network in specific regions. There are also other general bug fixes included.
