Apple iPhone XR Full Specs Review

Apple iPhone XR is the most affordable iPhone we’ve seen in the last two to three years. The XR is a little budget-friendly, well, sort off. It’s powered by the A12 Bionic chipset which was built on a 7nm process technology.

Nonetheless, it has 3GB of RAM, a big display than the XS but not as big as the XS Max. The XR version was built for those who won’t be able to afford the XS and XS. Let’s find out more about this device.

Design And Display

Unlike the XS and XS Max, the XR was built with aluminium alloy and still has a glossy back that reflects light beautifully. It’s also bigger than the XS overall with IP68 certifications as well.

At the top left corner, we can see just a single rear camera with the LED flash underneath. It’s quite bulky compared to the flagship ones, it measures 8.3mm in thickness and weighs 194g.

You get a bigger display with the XR no doubt, although it’s not as big as XS Max. Apple also stressed that the XR has a Liquid Retina IPS LCD display with the usual notch. It’s built around a 6.1-inch Liquid Retina IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with a resolution of 828 x 1792 pixels and 326 pixels per inch density for sharp visuals. The screen also stretches up to 79% screen-to-body ratio.

Hardware and Software

Under the hood, the new A12 Bionic chip with its 7nm process node from Apple reigns supreme here. It has a 6-core processor with a clock speed of up to 2.5GHz as well. There’s an Apple GPU with 8-core neural engine handling graphics.

For multitasking, you get a smaller 3GB of RAM space available. While in the storage department, you also get to choose from three variants like 64GB, a 12GB variant and 256GB. It runs on the latest iOS 12 operating system.

Camera, Network And Connectivity

Apple removed a rear camera here, this leaves the XR with a single 12MP rear shooter with f/1.8 aperture, 28mm sensor size, 1.4µm pixel size with PDAF, OIS and other features. The same 7MP selfie camera with f/2.2 aperture handles selfies.

The XR supports 4G LTE connectivity and accommodates dual Nano SIMs, while the US version supports a single SIM and eSIM. It also has support for Bluetooth 5.0, USB Type C, Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Hotspot and A-GPS, GLONASS.

Battery, Price And Availability

The Apple iPhone XR is powered by a non-removable 2716mAh battery with fast and wireless charging technology. Apple iPhone XR will be available on shopping stores, starting from $799 to $899, that’s about (N260,000 – N300,000).
