Apple has launched a new Airpod. It is an upgrade to the first generation AirPod. This new generation earbud came with improved battery life, wireless charging and hands – “Hey Siri”.
The company also launched the Qi wireless charging case. Although it is optional because a regular case accompanied the new AirPods. You get the combination for $160. The charging is done via a lightning cable. But if you intend to get the New AirPods together with the Qi case, you will need to pay $200.
Also, for those already using the old generation AirPods, there is good news for such people. The Qi case is backwards compatible and available on its own for $80. The AirPod also came with a lightning port which you can use when there is no Qi mat handy.
New features also accompanied the second-generation wireless Apple buds which might make you upgrade.
One of the new features is that you can now awaken Siri completely hands-free. (you don’t need to double tap it like people used to do before). And if you are using multiple devices and headphone, the latest Airpod is very fast when switching between. For example; your iPhone and your MacBook.
Another thing is that the new second-generation AirPod is powered by the H1 chip with support for Bluetooth 5.0 (up from 4.2). And it does not consume much power. With that, your talk time increases by 50% – that’s an extra hour of phone calls before inserting the bud back to its case.
The battery life of the AirPods is extended to 24 hours. This is made possible by the new charging cases (both the wired and wireless ones).
