Apple’s iPhone 7 goes against customers

While the leaks and rumours of the iPhone 7 were still flying around, we saw that iPhone might change the game by eliminating the headphone jack. A poll was conducted asking customers if they will like it removed, and over 60% disagreed with the brand’s intended initiative.

The removal of the headphone jack from Apple’s newest product means that customers will be forced to either buy Bluetooth-enabled headphones or Lightning headphones that plug into the power jack. More than 300,000 people have gone through the trouble of signing an online petition in protest, suggesting to Apple that the headphone jack is extremely important.

Truth is; over the years, Apple has proved to be an innovator and trend setter. Apple founder; Steve Jobs once said famously to Businessweek in 1998 that “A lot of times, people don’t know what they want until you show it to them”. This goes to show that Apple still went ahead to remove the headphone jack irrespective of how customers felt about this.

As it is a tradition, the removal of the jack might be here to stay. Depending on people’s acceptance of the innovation, brands can begin to inculcate the idea into their new products and the era of a headphone jack present in a phone will be long forgotten.

We are patiently waiting to see how things unfold. We however hope for the best for the Tech Giants.
