1. Samsung Galaxy S9

This device will compete with the iPhone and is largely an improvement on the Samsung Galaxy S8. With its dual-aperture camera, it has one of the world’s first f/1.5/f/2.4 apertures. Just like the S8, it has the S9’s 5.8-inch QHD+ display, stereo speakers, stylish design and top-tier chipset. And the interesting part is that you can get all of these at $719.99 / £739 / AU$1,199.

This is one of the top-ranking smartphones released at the mobile world Congress with a screen of 6.2 inches, a dual-lens one on the back, and RAM at 6GB. Also, the device has a 3,500mAh and bigger storage, with 128GB built-in. There is also a1440 x 2960 Super AMOLED display, a top-end chipset. The selling price is $839.99 / £869 / AU$1,349

3. Sony Xperia XZ2

This is Sony take on the Galaxy S8. The phone boasts a 5.7-inch 1080 x 2160 display with an 18:9 aspect ratio, a 19MP camera and 4GB of RAM.

According to SONY, the Xperia XZ2 is the first phone with 4K HDR video. Under the hood, you get a high-end Snapdragon 845 chipset and a 3,180mAh battery for wireless charging. It comes at a price of £699 (around $950 / AU$1350) with the release date yet to be confirmed.

4. Sony Xperia XZ2 Compact

The Sony Xperia XZ2 Compact has a smaller screen of 5.0-inch and a resolution of 1080 x 2160 screen.  This is in addition to the Snapdragon 845 chipset, 19MP camera and stereo speakers.

And with the XZ2 Compact trading glass for plastic on the back, the battery, with the XZ2 Compact sporting a smaller 2,870mAh unit, it does not have wireless charging feature. You can get it at £549 ($750 / AU$970).

5. Asus Zenfone 5 (2018) / Asus Zenfone 5Z

The ZenFone 5 is not for high-end users, the phone offers a fine physical appeal, due to its bezel-free screen. It has a 6.2-inch Full HD+ display, dual-lens cameras, stereo speakers, a 3,300mAh battery, a mid-range Snapdragon 636 chipset a RAM of 4GB.

On the other hand, the  Zenfone 5Z has a high-end Snapdragon 845 chipset and adds the RAM to up to 8GB; a maximum of 256GB storage capacity. The Zenfone 5Z is reportedly pegged at £500 (around $700/AU$885).

6. Nokia 8 Sirocco

It might not be among the flagship phones but it has a good spec –water resistant, a 5.5-inch 1440 x 2560 curved OLED screen. There is also a 3,260mAh battery and 6GB of RAM; a pair of Zeiss-tuned cameras on the back – a 12MP wide-angle lens and a 13MP telephoto one.

However, it does not have a headphone jack, one of its strong drawbacks. The price is at AU$1,199 (around £660, $900) and is expected to be launched in April.

7. Vivo Apex Concept

One of the things that make the phone stand out is its fingerprint scanner, built into the screen and the pop-up front facing a camera. As one of the best smartphones at Mobile World Congress, it also has an almost completely bezel-free screen and Vivo opting for a pop-up front-facing camera.

8. LG V30S ThinQ

In similitude to the original V30 with a 6.0-inch 1440 x 2880 OLED screen, a Snapdragon 835 chipset, a 3,300mAh battery and a dual-lens camera.The LG V30S offers little or no upgrade to the original LG V30.

On the camera side of things, it has a 16MP lens with a 13MP selfie shooter and easily makes one of the best smartphones at the Mobile World Congress 2018.

Also, the V30S ThinQ comes with a RAM at 6GB, and storage capacity extending to 256GB. One wonder of the device is that it has a new Moroccan Blue shade and some new camera modes, notably the ‘AI CAM’, which lets the camera automatically switch between eight different scenes

9. Nokia 7 Plus

The device is among Nokia phones on show at the Mobile World Congress 2018. Among the best smartphones for the Mobile World Congress 2018, the Nokia 7 Plus is an upper middle-range phone with a 6.0-inch 1080 x 2160 display and fairly slim bezels.

10. Asus Zenfone Max Plus M1

With a massive 4,130mAh battery and a small chassis, the Zenfone Max Plus M1 with a 5.7-inch 18:9 aspect ratio is among the top smartphones at the Mobile World Congress 2018 in Barcelona. Generally, the specs are mid-range but come in at $229 (about £164, AU$291).

It is one of the cheapest best smartphones at the Mobile World Congress and comes at $85 / AU$149 (around £60). With a compact 4.5-inch display, a 5MP camera, a removable 2,150mAh battery, it is perhaps one of the smartphones you can lay your hands on.

12. Alcatel 5, 3, 2

Alcatel was visibly on ground during the mobile world congress in Barcelona and a couple of devices such as Alcatel 5, 3V were unveiled. The Alcatel has an almost bezel-free 5.7-inch 720 x 1440 display, a metal shell and a dual-lens camera.

However, the only drawback to one of the most sought-after best smartphones at the Mobile World Congress is the low-end Snapdragon 450 chipset.
