Black Shark 3 and 3 Pro launched with SD 865, Magnetic Charging and 90Hz OLED display

The gaming sub-brand of Xiaomi, Black Shark are back with the third generation of their gaming smartphone. This year’s Black Shark 3 comes with a senior sibling; the Black Shark 3 Pro. As usual, both devices feature a top notch and cool gaming features.

The gaming smartphone comes with a 6.67-inch display and FHD+ resolution. It is powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 chipset and supports 5G connectivity. When it comes to the memory options, we have the 8GB/128GB, 12GB/128GB and 12GB/256GB.

Even though the camera isn’t a priority for a gaming smartphone, Black Shark still made sure the device isn’t lacking in that department. The rear camera module consists of a main 64MP sensor, a 13MP ultra-wide-angle sensor and a 5MP depth sensor. You can take quality selfies with its 20MP front-facing camera.

Battery life is important for a gaming device, which is why the Black Shark 3 is equipped with a 4,720 mAh battery capacity. A rather new feature is the magnetic charger, which is placed at the back of the phone for a quick charge. The downside of this magnetic charger is that it can only go up to 15W charging.

The Black Shark 3 is launched in Star Silver, Armor Gray, and Lightning Black body colours. Sales are expected to start on March 6 with the 8/128GB model going for $500.

The Pro version is only slightly different from the base version. For starters, it comes with a bigger display size at 7.1-inch, QHD+ OLED panel and 90Hz refresh rate. Also, it features a 270Hz touch-sampling rate which is the world fastest right now.

There are only two memory options here, 8/256GB and 12/256GB. Battery capacity also gets bumped up to a huge 5,000 mAh. It supports the fast 65W charging, which according to Xiaomi, can go from 0% to 100% in 38 minutes.

This pro model comes with an intriguing pop-up trigger at the left and right side. According to the company, you’re guaranteed at least 300,000 pop-ups without any issues.

Unlike its predecessor, both the Shark 3 and 3 Pro features 3.5mm audio jack. And the cooling system has been improved compared to the previous generation.

The Black Shark 3 Pro will be available in Armor Gray and Phantom Black from March 17. Its base 8/256GB will cost $675.
