Cubot J5 Design And Display
Cubot J5 has a 5.5-inch 480p IPS LCD display with a 196ppi which uses an 18:9 aspect ratio, leaving enough space at the top for the front-facing camera and, speaker grill and other sensors. There is also a chin at the bottom with small size bezel.
A single rear camera sits at the plastic back with an LED flash. The fingerprint sensor is missing here which is understandable given that it’s an entry-level smartphone. The device measures 9mm in thickness weighs 173grams and comes in three colours; Black, Blue and Gradient. It also has both a dual Nano SIM slot and a microSD card slot for additional storage.
Cubot J5 Camera Review
At the back of the device is a single 8MP camera accompanied by an LED flash to light up low light scenes during photography sessions. For selfies, the single front-facing 5MP handles that and although it doesn’t have an LED flash, it does take some really nice photos.
Cubot J5 Hardware and Software
Under the hood of the Cubot J5 is the MediaTek MT6580 SoC which is a Chipset with a Quad-Core processor clocking speeds of up to 1.3GHz paired with a Mali-400 MP2 for gaming. There is 2GB of RAM and 16GB of onboard storage. Talking about storage, it is expandable here, up to 128GB via it’s dedicated MicroSD card slot. Surprisingly, it runs the latest Android 9.0 Pie out of the box with their UI overlay on top.
Battery & Network Connectivity
A 2,800mAh keeps this light turned on here and it doesn’t have fast charging. It charges through the almost extinct microUSB port. It also doesn’t have 4G LTE but there is 3G and 2G. There is also Bluetooth, GPS, LED notification light and a 3.5mm jack.
