Gionee Mobile has released their latest smartphone which comes from the S-series family. The new Gionee S12 is the successor to the Gionee S11 series and comes with major upgrades. The budget smartphone features a larger display, better camera, hardware, software, and bigger battery capacity. In today’s post, we’ll be reviewing the specs, features and price of the Gionee S12.

Design

The Gionee S12 comes in a fabulous rainbow gradient body design which shines and changes when exposed to light. The device is available in only an Indigo Blue colour that is stylish, appears vogue and vivacious. It measures 8.9mm in thickness which isn’t all that sleek and its overall body is made of plastic. The backside is home to four cameras neatly arranged at the top left along with the dual-LED flash. The fingerprint reader is located at the top middle while the company’s brand name is at the bottom left corner. The waterdrop notch display occupies the front side with a bottom chin.

Display

The screen of the Gionee S12 measures 6.52-inch with an 81.6% screen-to-body ratio. The waterdrop IPS LCD display features a 720 x 1600 resolution, 20:9 aspect ratio and 269 pixels per inch density. Protecting the device’s display is a 2.5D curved glass which is scratch resistant.

Hardware and Software

Under the hood is the MediaTek Helio A25 chipset built on a 12nm process technology and features an Octa-core processor with a clock speed of 1.8GHz. The chip is combined with a generous 4GB RAM for multitasking and smooth user experience. There is a 64GB storage space to store up all kinds of files. Expandable storage of up to 256GB is also up for grabs via the microSD slot. The phone runs on Google’s latest Android 10 out of the box.

Camera

The Gionee phone packs an AI Quad rear camera, three of the cameras is housed in a rectangular-shaped module with curved edges while the fourth camera is paired with the dual-LED flash. The camera combination features a 16MP f/1.8 main lens with AF, an 8MP f/2.2 wide-angle lens with AF and 118° FoV, a 2MP depth lens and a 2MP macro lens. Inside the waterdrop notch is a 13MP selfie camera with background blur capability to achieve clear photo effect.

Battery  

The Gionee S12 packs a 4,000 mAh battery capacity with a super power-saving system. The endurance level of the battery life is at a high level and guarantees that the smartphone will always keep you company.
