The Google Pixel 4A is finally launched after months of speculations and rumours. Google is tweaking its strategy this year, as there is no mid-range Pixel XL smartphone. Design and Display
The Google phone has a standard body build design as opposed to premium. It features a plastic unibody (back and frame) with front glass. It is lightweight at 143 grams, especially when held in one’s palm. In terms of sleekness, it measures 8.2 mm. There is a fingerprint reader at the plastic back and a single rear camera enclosed in a module with the LED flash. The smartphone is only available in one body colour option – Just Black.
This compact handset is built around a 5.81″ OLED panel. It features a 1080 x 2340 pixels resolution, 19.5:9 aspect ratio, 443 PPI density, HDR and Always-on display. The small-sized display is protected by version 3 of Corning Gorilla Glass.
Hardware and Software
The device is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 730 SoC which is built in an 8nm manufacturing process tech. The 730 chip features an Octa-core processor clocking at 2.2GHz and Adreno 618 GPU for graphics. Pairing with the chipset is a 6GB RAM and 128GB storage. There is no microSD slot available meaning you’ll have to make do with the 128GB in-built storage.
Camera
The Google Pixel 4A features just one rear camera housed in a rather big rectangular shaped module. The 12.2MP f/1.7 camera features OIS, dual pixel PDAF and auto-HDR. It shoots 4K videos at 30fps. The camera system also supports all features seen on the Pixel 4 like the Portrait mode, Night Sight and Top Shot. The punch-hole cut-out on the display is where you’ll see an 8MP f/2.0 selfie camera with auto-HDR and can shoot 1080p@30fps.
Battery
The Google Pixel 4A packs a non-removable Li-Po 3,140 mAh battery capacity which is considered small in today’s market. However, it can be charged via the Power Delivery 2.0 at up to 18W charging speed.

Google Pixel 4A Price and Availability
The Google Pixel 4A is already available in the US via pre-order at $340 with official sales expected to begin August 20. It costs £349 in the UK and €340 in Germany. It is also expected to be available in the following countries – Australia, Canada, Japan, Singapore, Spain, Taiwan, France, India, Ireland and Italy.
In Nigeria, the Google Pixel 4A will be sold by retailers for around N150,000
