The PlayStation, also called PS, is a popular gaming console, which is owned by Sony Interactive Environment, based in Minato, Tokyo, Japan. The PS4 was unveiled on February 20, 2013, at a press conference. Its latest version, the PS4 Pro, comes with capabilities to play the latest titles in 4K resolution at faster frame rates and remote play at 1080p (the only PS4 model that can do this). While this is a powerful console, there are few instances that you will notice some issues. One of such problems is what this article centres on.
Getting the “PS4 corrupt data error” can be quite pesky. It is an issue that PlayStation 4 players gripe about several times, and getting rid of it may not be that easy without the right knowledge. To add insult to injury, when the corrupt data message crops up, you will notice that the game sound will start lagging behind, and you will not be able to load your character. Eventually, the game will go blank, and that annoying dark screen will show up, displaying the error info: “Cannot continue using the application. The data for the following application is corrupted. Delete the application from the PS4, and then insert the disc again.”
How can you nip this problem in the bud? Read on to find out.
Fixing the Corrupted Data Error on PS4
The error message usually happens when playing different games, such as Destiny, Arsenal, Warframe, and so on. It is typically a pointer to a poorly functioning hard drive, or the problem may just be the app. And it is also possible that the error will make your PS4 console fail to turn on.
While this corrupted data error could appear like a snafu, no need to worry as it’s quite easy to fix. Mostly, the problem normally has to do with the game data, and not the system data per se, and you’ll typically notice this error message, labeled NP-32062-3 or CE-34875-7. This problem happens when you want to start the installation process of a game, and when such comes up, you’ll be left with an unplayable game.
The quickest method you can use for fixing this issue is, deleting the game data file. You can do this by heading to Notifications on your PS4 home screen, selecting OPTIONS, and pressing Downloads. From this point, you can highlight the corrupted data (which will be grey thumbnail with a jagged line through it), hit the OPTIONS button, and delete the data. Get a microfiber cloth for wiping the game disk. You can now try the installation again. If you’re installing a downloaded game, you should delete the downloaded file and try downloading it again. And then repeat the installation.
Should the problem persist, what you need to do is to have your game database rebuilt. Here are the steps to do this:
- Switch the PS4 off, completely
- When it has gone off, press & hold the PS4 power button. After you have heard 2 beeps, release it — the fist beep when you press it initially, and the other, around 7 secs. later
- The console will boot into a Safe Mode
- Try connecting a DualShock 4 controller via your USB cable and hitting the PS button on the controller. If you notice that the PS4 is not able to recognize the controller, maybe you’ve attached a power-only USB cable, so make use of the one that came with your controller, instead
- Press the option, Rebuild Database
- Wait a while for the process to be completed.
- When it is done, you should restart the PS4
It should work fine now.
