How to fix Samsung Galaxy Note 10 and Note Plus Overheating Issues

Is your Samsung Galaxy Note 10 device having an overheating issue? If yes, don’t panic as we have the solutions for it.

The Galaxy Note 10 and 10 plus is the tenth generation of the Samsung Galaxy Note series. They are both premium devices with high-end features like Dynamic AMOLED display and Snapdragon 855 SoC.

Many users have reported about how quickly their Galaxy Note 10/10+ heats up. The reason behind this issue is unknown though it is obvious it has to be software related.

Force reboot your Samsung Galaxy Note 10 device

The first method you should try out is the universal force reboot method. This method works for any smartphone irrespective of the manufacturing company. Please make sure the device is your own. And if you are not owner, kindly seek the permission of the rightful owner. Follow the steps below to force reboot the phone;

  1. Turn to the back of the Galaxy Note 10.
  2. Use your fingernail or any comfortable pin to open the back panel.
  3. Since the battery of the smartphone is non-removable, you’ll need to get a screen driver to unlock the battery from the phone.
  4. After that, remove the battery, this should force the phone to shut down.
  5. Once the phone is shut down, wait a few seconds and insert the battery back and screw it.
  6. Press and hold the power button to boot the phone on. Once the phone is turned on, chances are it will stop overheating.

Clear Cache Data of the Samsung Galaxy Note 10

In case the first method did not work out and the overheating issue is still persistent, try clearing the cache data of the phone. Most apps and games run non-stop on devices once installed. Chances are there is an app or game in your phone that is causing the overheating issue. Follow the steps below to clear cache data;

  • Go to Settings on your phone.
  • Select Storage.
  • Scroll down till you see “Cache Data”, then click on it.
  • The system will ask if you want to clear cache data of your device. Choose “YES” and wait for the cache data to be cleared/deleted.
  • Once the system is done clearing the cache data, your phone should be working fine now.

Reset App Preferences on the Samsung Galaxy Note 10

Like I said earlier, there are apps that work 24/7 non-stop and could be the reason for your device overheating. To rest the app preferences of your Galaxy Note 10, follow the steps below;

  • Open Settings on your smartphone.
  • Go to “App Management”.
  • Click on the three-dot icon at the top right corner.
  • Select “Reset App Preferences”.
  • Once the system finishes resetting your app preferences, restart your phone.

Factory Reset The Samsung Galaxy Note 10

This method is a tough ask for some people cause every file on the device will get erased. But the beauty of this method is that it will also erase the app or software that is causing your Galaxy Note 10 to overheat. You can backup your important files below starting this process. Below is how to factory reset your Samsung Galaxy Note 10;

  • Go to Settings.
  • Select “General Management”.
  • Select “Reset”.
  • Choose “Factory Reset” from the given options.
  • You can read the terms and conditions, then press “Reset” to begin.
  • Press the “Delete All” reset option to erase every data on your phone.

Make sure you have at least a 50% battery life before you begin this factory reset method. But if your phone is no longer in working condition due to the overheating issue, this method won’t work. However, you can factory reset the device through recovery mode. Follow the steps below to do that;

  1. Switch off your Galaxy Note 10.
  2. Now, press and hold the “volume up” and “Bixby” buttons.
  3. While still holding those two buttons, press and hold the “power” button.
  4. The “Recovery screen” menu should appear now. Once you see the menu, you can now let go of the buttons.
  5. Use the “volume down” button to navigate the menu until you get to the “wipe data/factory reset”.
  6. Press the “power” button to select this “wipe data/factory reset” option.
  7. Press the “volume down” button which means “Yes”, you want to wipe the data on the device.
  8. Press the “power button” to confirm the factory reset. And that’s all. Wait for the phone to finish the reset process.
