How to Order and Setup Starlink Internet Kit

Starlink has officially started working in Nigeria, and Nigerians are interested in buying it. It delivers unprecedented internet speeds like never seen before in the country. If you are looking for how to order Starlink in Nigeria, you’re welcome. We will even take it a step further by guiding you on how to set up your Starlink satellite in Nigeria.

Elon Musk announced in May 2022 that the service would be available in Nigeria, but we had to wait until January 2023 before it became available. You might ask what Starlink is; let’s answer that before proceeding.

What is Starlink?

Starlink is an internet service provider ISP owned by SpaceX. They provide internet access through their low-earth orbital satellites. They are currently available in 33 countries, including Nigeria. Their service is spreading fast across the world, and more African countries will be on board before the end of 2023. The company has over 2000 satellites in orbit, with 1500 operational.

The Starlink internet service will be available everywhere in Nigeria, even in rural areas. Even if you are in an area utterly off-grid with Starlink, you should access the internet. Although it won’t be easily accessible in Nigeria because of the price, those who buy it will get unprecedented browsing speed.

To order the satellite, you need to visit the Starlink Official Website and be asked to add your Nigerian address. Using your address, the website will tell you if the service is available in your area. After that, you will pay a $99 down payment and $499 to complete the payment taking it close to $600.

The payment is in USD even though we will see the Naira equivalent of ₦268,584 for the hardware and a monthly ₦19,260 for the internet service. Fill in all the necessary fields and click on Place Order. There isn’t an exact time frame for the delivery, but DHL handles delivery. The process of ordering your Starlink satellite is straightforward. Some Nigerians got their package just a few days after ordering, while others have been waiting.

Inside the box, you will find the Base, Satellite, Router, Power Plug, and Starlink Cable. Your rooftop might be the best place to mount the Satellite, so there won’t be any obstructions. There is also an app that will help you ensure there isn’t any obstruction where you mount your satellite.

After that, connect the wire to the router, plug the router into electricity, and you are good to go. It will start working instantly and deliver instant speed. You will spend close to ₦500,000 to get the complete Starlink kit.

Starlink will be faster than MTN, Airtel, 9Mobile, and Glo combined. It isn’t going to replace them because of the affordability problem outrightly. It is more suitable for Individuals who have the money and need a fast internet connection. Businesses that require fast internet services will also benefit from Starlink.
