Huawei P20 is the company’s flagship smartphone in the first quarter of 2018. The device was launched on the 27th of March at a press conference in Paris.
The company waited until the mobile season is almost over to launch the three beauties. Unlike the P20 Lite, the P20 comes with a more enhanced dual rear cameras, bigger battery capacity, 6GB RAM and 128GB storage. Without further ado, meet the Huawei P20.
DESIGN
From the design point of view, it looks exactly like the P20 Lite from the back, sporting a sleek metal overall body. The exquisite device is covered in glass as well and reflects light beautifully. Definitely, one of those you will gladly flaunt when you are out and about.
The powerful dual shooters sit at the top left corner in a vertical position, with the dual-LED flash sitting underneath. The smartphone will be much heavier in general than the P20 Lite version due to its battery capacity. In terms of colour, it is available in Blue, Black and Red.
DISPLAY
Just like other P20 devices from Huawei, the P20 comes with the top-notch as well. The notch seems to be more compressed here than on the P20 Lite. Nonetheless, it dishes out an 18.5:9 aspect ratio and a full view display.
Impressively, it reaches 81% screen to body ratio even with the physical home button at the bottom bezel which doubles as a fingerprint scanner. Focusing on the screen now, the 5.84-inch LTPS IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen boasts of 2250 x 1080 pixels in resolution and 432 pixels per inch density.
HARDWARE and SOFTWARE
Running the race here is the HiSilicon Kirin 970 from Huawei, a 10-nm design with dedicated AI silicon. The 8-core processor is fast, reaching a speed of 2.4 GHz. Boasts of a 64-bit CPU architecture, 10nm process technology and Mali-G72 MP12 graphics processor.
In terms of storage and RAM, there are two versions, there’s the standard version with 128GB storage and 6GB RAM. Then the much affordable version comes with 64GB storage and 4GB RAM. The RAM on both versions reaches a memory speed of 1.866 GHz, while the storage space is upgradeable up to 256GB. The P20 ships with the latest Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box.
CAMERA
The dual rear 12MP + 20MP monochrome has a f/1.7 and f/1.7 apertures respectively. The cameras have Leica Optics, 2X Lossless Zoom, dual-LED flash and other features. With the Huawei P20, you can take photographs with 5164 x 3873 pixels in dimension. You can also record videos of 2160 pixels and 1080 pixels at 30fps and 60fps respectively. Take cute selfies, with the 24MP selfie camera that has f/2.0 aperture.
BATTERY
The Huawei P20 is powered by a Non-removable Li-Po 3400mAh battery with fast charging technology.
PRICE AND AVAILABILITY
Huawei P20 is available for $549 to $599, that’s about (N170,000 – N200,000).
