Huawei Y9 2019 VS Camon 11 PRO: Which One Should You buy?

Huawei Y9 2019 and Tecno Camon 11 Pro will be going head to head here. Both devices are in the mid-range segment and are also packing some pretty impressive features at the same price bracket so we will be helping you decide which one to buy between the two.

Huawei Y9 2019 VS Camon 11 PRO – Design & Display

Huawei Y9 2019 has a massive notched 6.5-inch 1080p display with the Modern 19:9 aspect ratio and a 396ppi. Tecno Camon 11 Pro on the other hand also has a slightly smaller 6.2-inch notched screen but with a 720p display which translates into a 268ppi.

Both devices look pretty similar in terms of design as they both have the notch at the front which houses the front-facing camera and the dual rear cameras at back along with the fingerprint sensor at the usual spot.

Tecno Camon 11 Pro comes in only one colour which is Nebula Black while Huawei Y9 2019 has three colours – Midnight Black, Sapphire Blue and Aurora Purple. Tecno Camon 11 Pro weighs just 155grams and measures 5.6mm thick while Huawei Y9 2019 is a little bulkier weighing 173grams and measuring 8.1mm in thickness.

In terms of design, they are quite identical with diamond gradient design that reflects light beautifully. However, in terms of display, the Huawei Y9 2019 is ahead with its 1080P resolution as against the 720P on the Camon 11 Pro.

Huawei Y9 2019 VS Camon 11 PRO – Hardware & Software

Tecno Camon 11 Pro is rocking the MediaTek Helio P22 which is an 8-core processor based on the 12nm FinFET process and has a maximum clock speed of 2.0GHz, paired with a PowerVR GE8320 GPU. Huawei Y9 2019, on the other hand, uses their in-house Kirin 710 which is also an 8-core processor based on the 12nm FinFET process but has a maximum clock speed of 2.2GHz, along with a Mali-G51 MP4 GPU.

Tecno Camon 11 Pro has 6GB of RAM and 64GB of Internal storage while Huawei Y9 2019 has two configurations; a 4GB RAM variant with 64GB of internal storage and a 6GB RAM variant with 128GB of internal storage.

However, in Nigeria, only the 4GB RAM/64GB ROM is available. So this is the version we will be comparing with the Camon 11 Pro here. Storage spaces on both devices are expandable up to 256GB.

Huawei Y9 2019 runs EMUI 8.2 out of the box which is based on Android 8.1 Oreo while Tecno Camon 11 Pro runs HiOS 4.1 which is based on Android 8.0 Oreo. Once again, the processor on the Huawei Y9 2019 is a capable one and is better than the one on the Camon 11 Pro but the Camon 11 Pro is compensating for its weak processor with plenty of RAM. Since we have not put the Huawei Y9 2019 to the test, it might hard to test which offers better real-life performance.

Huawei Y9 2019 VS Camon 11 PRO-Camera

Huawei Y9 2019 has four cameras in total, one more than the Tecno Camon 11 Pro which has three. Huawei Y9 2019 sports a dual rear camera setup which consists of a 16MP main shooter with f/2.0 aperture and PDAF and a secondary 2MP depth sensor camera with f/2.4 aperture. The camera is equipped with an LED flash, HDR, Panorama and can record 1080p videos at 30fps. For selfies, there is a 13MP main camera with f/1.8 aperture paired with a secondary 2MP depth sensor camera with f/2.4 aperture which also has HDR and is also capable of 1080p video recording at 30fps.

Tecno Camon 11 Pro also has a dual camera setup; a 16MP main camera with f/1.8 aperture and AF and a secondary 5MP depth sensor camera with f/2.4 aperture. The camera is equipped with a dual-LED dual-tone flash, HDR and Panorama. It can also record 1080p videos at 30fps. The front facing camera is a single 24MP camera with f/2.0 aperture which also has an LED flash and HDR.

We are currently putting the Camon 11 Pro camera to the test and the full review will be up soon. If we can lay our hands on the Huawei Y9 2019, this post will be updated to show the camera comparisons based on user’s experience.

But from the Camera comparison done by Eric Okafor on YouTube, it is glaring that the Camon 11 Pro has better cameras compared to the Huawei Y9 2019

Battery & Connectivity

Huawei Y9 2019 packs a little bit more juice in the battery department with a 4,000mAh battery, compared to the 3,750mAh battery capacity on the Tecno Camon 11 Pro. Both devices do not come with a fast charging feature.

They both have 4G LTE connectivity, Bluetooth 5.0 with A2DP and LE, GPS with A-GPS, a micro USB Port and support for USB On The Go.

Huawei Y9 2019 VS Camon 11 PRO – Price

Tecno Camon’s 11 Pro with 6GB/64GB costs around N76,000 while Huawei Y9 2019’s 4GB/64GB configuration goes for about N76,000 – N76,900.

For me, Huawei Y9 2019 wins this as it brings a slightly bigger and better display, better performance thanks to the Kirin 710 and bigger Battery capacity.
