Infinix HOT 60i Review: Budget phone with an impressive 45W charging

Who says budget phones can’t be sleek and speedy? The Infinix HOT 60i challenges that idea with a slim, stylish design and an impressive 45W fast charging feature, which is rare at this price point. It’s designed for users who want a phone that looks good in their hand and keeps up with their fast-paced day, without burning a hole in their wallet.

From casual scrolling to AI features, the HOT 60i delivers more than just the basics—it brings everyday convenience with a touch of flair.

After using the HOT 60i as my primary phone for a week, I was pleasantly surprised by how much it offers, especially considering its price.

Let’s walk through the experience, starting with what you get right out of the box.

Unboxing Experience

The HOT 60i keeps things simple but satisfying. Here’s what’s inside the box:

  • The Infinix HOT 60i unit
  • USB-C charging cable
  • 45W fast charger
  • SIM ejector tool
  • Basic user manual and warranty card
  • Protective case

It’s not flashy, but it’s functional. Right away, I appreciated the inclusion of USB-C charging and a 45W charger—a thoughtful touch at this price point.

 Design & Build Quality

For a phone in this category, the HOT 60i looks and feels surprisingly premium. It sports a shining rear panel that retains fingerprints but enhances grip, while the camera module has a modern, three-row vertical design that gives the phone some visual edge just like what you have in the Galaxy A series.

At 188g and just 7.7mm slim,  it feels solid and sturdy in hand. The edges and slim profile make it easy to hold, and it easily slips into a pocket or small bag. The side-mounted fingerprint scanner (which doubles as the power button) is fast and conveniently placed.

Color options like Sleek Black, Titanium Silver, Neon Red, Shadow Blue, Soul Eye Purple, and Meadow Green add flair depending on your style.

My review unit was Palm Blue—a bold, slightly iridescent finish that caught attention more than once.

Display & Multimedia

The HOT 60i features a 6.7-inch HD+ IPS display with a 120Hz refresh rate. Now, while it’s not Full HD, the display is bright, responsive, and smooth enough to make everyday use feel modern and snappy.

Scrolling through TikTok, replying to DMs, or browsing news felt smooth thanks to the 120Hz refresh rate. Colours are decent, nothing oversaturated, and while it’s not OLED-level rich, it holds up nicely for YouTube, Instagram, or casual gaming.

It comes with dual stereo speakers which produces decent sound that is loud and clear. Podcasts, WhatsApp voice notes, and even music sound fine for personal use, though headphone users will appreciate the still-present 3.5mm audio jack.

Performance in Daily Life

Powered by the MediaTek Helio G81 chipset, the HOT 60i comes with up to 8GB RAM (4GB physical + 4GB extended via memory fusion) and 128GB storage, expandable via microSD.

For daily tasks, performance is surprisingly smooth. WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, and Chrome all ran well. Light games like Subway Surfers, Dream League Soccer, and Free Fire were playable on low graphics. Multitasking was acceptable, with the virtual RAM helping keep background apps alive longer

Of course, this is not a device meant for heavy gaming or pro-level multitasking. But for students, young professionals, or anyone focused on communication, media, and light productivity, it delivers.

Software Experience & Smart Features

The Infinix HOT 60i runs on XOS 15.1, layered over Android 15, and right from the first boot-up, you’re greeted with a colourful, fluid UI that’s built to be both fun and functional. Infinix packs in a bunch of smart features that aren’t just gimmicks—they help in daily use.

For instance, I found Memory Fusion surprisingly handy—it lets the phone borrow extra storage to act as virtual RAM, which helped smooth things out when multitasking. Then there’s Lightning Multi-Window, which made split-screen multitasking genuinely useful, and the Smart Panel, a swipe-in sidebar for quick access to apps, tools, or screenshots—kind of like your personal command centre.

But perhaps one of the most impressive additions is UltraLink Free Call. It’s one of those features you don’t expect on a phone at this price. Picture this: you’re stuck in a basement, in a crowded area with no network bars, or maybe out in the wild where there’s zero signal—normally, you’re off the grid. But with UltraLink, you can still talk to another Infinix user nearby without using airtime or data. It works through a direct Bluetooth-like connection, and it just… works. I tested it in a low-signal area, and to my surprise, the call went through smoothly. A game-changer in certain situations.

The HOT 60i also features Folax, Infinix’s AI assistant powered by DeepSeek. It includes tools like a Translation Assistant, AI Note, Document Assistant, and even a Writing Assistant—all designed to make communication, studying, and work smoother on the go.

Of course, not everything is perfect. The phone still ships with a bit of bloatware like Palm Store and a few games you might not need, but most can be uninstalled or at least disabled. That said, you still get a lot of utility: gesture controls, a theme engine, and a smart scanner that’s useful for QR codes and document capture.

Camera Performance

The Infinix HOT 60i features a 50MP main camera and an 8MP selfie shooter. In good lighting, photos come out sharp with solid contrast, and the AI mode helps brighten scenes, especially in shadows. Portrait shots are decent, but they can struggle with edge detection.

Low-light and indoor photos tend to be grainy with some blur, but they’re fine for casual use or social media. The selfie camera is good enough for Instagram, TikTok, and video calls, though it suffers from exposure at times.

Video recording is capped at 1080p with minimal stabilization, so it’s best for steady shots. Overall, the camera setup does a respectable job for the price.

Battery Life and Connectivity

If there’s one area where the Infinix HOT 60i delivers, it’s battery life. With its 5,160mAh battery, I was consistently getting through a full day of heavy use— video streaming, social media, and messaging with around 20 to 25% left by bedtime.

On lighter days, it stretched comfortably into a second day without needing a top-up. Depending on how bright you keep your screen and what you’re doing, screen-on time can hit up to 8 hours, which is solid.

Charging is handled via a 45W adapter and USB-C port. It takes about 1 hour and some mins to go from zero to full, which is OK for this price segment.

Connectivity-wise, it checks all the important boxes: 4G LTE, NFC,  dual SIM slots plus a dedicated microSD slot (so no need to choose between extra storage and a second line), Bluetooth 5.0, and Wi-Fi 802.11ac.

You also get both Face Unlock and a fingerprint scanner, and both worked reliably during my time with the phone. There’s even FM radio and OTG support if you still love your wired accessories.

Should You Buy the Infinix HOT 60i?

If you’re looking for a budget phone that balances style, reliability, and battery life, the Infinix HOT 60i deserves your attention.

It’s not built for gamers or power users, but for students, first-time smartphone owners, or anyone who needs a dependable daily driver with a modern design and smart extras, it’s a solid choice. For the price, the HOT 60i is proof that Infinix continues to push value boundaries in the entry-level space—and that’s something we love to see.
