Infinix Zero 5 Pro VS Infinix Zero 4 Pro: Should You upgrade?

Infinix Zero 5 Pro VS Infinix Zero 4 Pro

Infinix Zero 5 Pro Vs Infinix Zero 4 Pro:  Infinix Mobility released their Flagship device on November 14, 2017, the Infinix Zero 5 Pro. Their first smartphone with the trending dual rear camera and it’s also their first device to reach the N100,000 price tag.

The device packs lots of amazing new features compared to its predecessor. But is it worth the hype? Is there any major upgrade? Is it worth being sold for over an N100,000? Stay with me as I take you through their specs and features comparison.

Infinix Zero 5 Pro Vs Infinix Zero 4 Pro: DESIGN

Both device sports a premium metal unibody with their fingerprint sensor mounted at the back. I’m more disappointed at the Zero 5 Pro, as the supposedly “new” design on the device didn’t do it for me. Nevertheless, Zero 5 Pro is relatively slimmer than the Zero 4 Pro. Measuring 7.7 mm slim, while its predecessor measures 8.25 mm.

Infinix Zero 5 Pro Vs Infinix Zero 4 Pro

The new smartphone also weighs less than the Zero 4 Pro. Infinix Zero 5 Pro weighs 197g compared to the heavy Infinix Zero 4, which weighs 203g. Overall I think Zero 4 Pro takes it home for me in terms of design, there weren’t any major upgrades design-wise.

Infinix Zero 5 Pro Vs Infinix Zero 4 Pro: DISPLAY

Both device sports the same 5.98-inch IPS display screen, with a screen resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels. Although the pixel per inch on the Zero 5 is relatively higher, as it sports 401ppi compared to the 368ppi on the Zero 4.

That, of course, was the only improvement on the display screen. The Zero 5 Pro also sports the same Corning Gorilla Glass 3 used on the Zero 4 Pro. Whatever happened to the trending and improved Corning Gorilla Glass 5, which was used on most flagship this year is another point of discussion for another day. The display on the Zero 5 Pro still looks basic to me, there weren’t any major upgrades on the display when compared to the Zero 4 Pro.

Infinix Zero 5 Pro Vs Infinix Zero 4 Pro: CAMERA

This is the highlight feature on the Zero 5 Pro, boasting the trending dual rear cameras. Its safe to say Infinix specifically focused more on the camera when designing the Zero 5 Pro. The new device comes with a more enhanced 12MP + 13MP dual rear cameras. Which the company claims takes more detailed pictures than the single 20.7MP on the Zero 4 Pro. The 12MP sensor is the main camera while the 13MP sensor is a telephoto one.

For selfies, the Zero 5 Pro packs 16MP front-facing camera with Flash and a beautifying technology. While the Zero 4 Pro has just 13MP selfie camera with Flash. So if you are a photography focused person, then you need to upgrade to enjoy the new features on the Zero 5 pro.

HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE

Infinix also brought it, in terms of performance. The new Zero 5 Pro houses the more advanced MediaTek Helio P25 chipset with 2.6GHz Octa-core processor. Which is far more power saving than the 2.1GHz Deca-core MediaTek Helio X20 processors on the Zero 4 Pro. In terms of graphics and gaming performance, the Zero 4 pro is way faster than the Zero 5 pro. We have done a similar comparison between the Tecno Phantom 8 and the Phantom 6 Plus, it was clearly evident that the Phantom 6 Plus which has the same specs and processor with the Zero 4 Pro is better in terms of performance.

Zero 5 Pro also packs more RAM size with 6GB RAM, compared to the low 4GB RAM on the Zero 4 Pro. Let me say here that 4GB of RAM is more than enough to power any Android device successfully, the 6GB of RAM on the Zero 5 Pro may not offer any significant improvement when it comes to performance.  In terms of storage, The new Zero 5 Pro has four times the 32GB internal storage on the Zero 4 Pro, with a massive 128GB. And if that isn’t enough, you can expand up to 2TB using microSD, now that’s a laptop lol.

Ditch the Marshmallow, and welcome the Nougat experience with the Android 7.0 Nougat and XOS v3.0 UI on the Zero 5 Pro.The Zero 4 Pro shipped with Android 6.0 Marshmallow but Infinix had already provided the Android Nougat update to the Zero 4 Pro. So if you are still on Marshmallow, you can now rock the Android 7.0 Nougat on the device. The Infinix Zxero 5 Pro will be receiving the Android 8.0 Oreo update soon but I am not sure if the Zero 4 Pro will.

Infinix Zero 5 Pro Vs Infinix Zero 4 Pro: BATTERY

We need more battery juices in this era on smartphones and Infinix understands that. The new Infinix Zero 5 Pro is powered by a larger 4350mAh battery compared to the 4000mAh on the Zero 4 Pro. To top it all off, they both have the Xcharge Fast Charging feature.

CONCLUSION

Personally, apart from the dual rear cameras,128GB of storage and the slightly improved battery life, there are no major upgrades on the Zero 5 Pro compared to the Zero 4 Pro. The Zero 4 Pro still retails at around N80,000, while the new Zero 5 Pro retails at around N120,000. The Infinix Zero 4 Pro will still be faster when it comes to performance thanks to the deca-core Helio X20 Processor. But that is my own point of view. What do you think?

  1. Hi. Very nice review.

I’ve got a major, MAJOR beef with Infinix devices – after buying and using for about 5-7-9 months (sometimes even less), they begin lag in performance (freeze, LAGS, occasional reboots, ignore simple executions, etc) & I just want to bash HARD the life out of the phone. Grrrrr..

Currently I’m using the Infinix Note 3 but I’m about to toss that (far away!) & get another Infinix phone. Probably my last as I’m about starting a family.

NOW, I’ve been interested in either the Infinix Zero 5 Pro or the Infinix Note 4 Pro. Either will be my 11th Infinix device so would really appreciate counsel on which phone to pick up – and hopefully break my run of bad luck with the Infinix brand.

I’ve done my research & looked (endlessly!) at each device spec-wise but my main grip is performance longevity of the phones.

Please do help – which do I pick? First impressions/ surface pros & cons for each phone I already know but I’m still in the deep-dark on long term performance prospects of each. And as we know money to support this isn’t easy to come by.

    Cheers & thanks in advance.
