iPhone 7 Plus vs iPhone 8 Plus: Should you upgrade?

iPhone 7 Plus vs iPhone 8 Plus

iPhone 7 Plus vs iPhone 8 Plus: Apple fans were a little disappointed when the company released the iPhone 8 Plus. The 8 Plus looks exactly like the 7 Plus, and from a distance, one can hardly tell the difference. Are you using the iPhone 7 Plus and contemplating if you should upgrade to the new iPhone 8 Plus and if its worth it? Then stick around as I will be listing out the hidden difference, similarities and why you should upgrade.

Both smartphones have few identical features, especially with the design. But some of the iPhone 8 Plus features is more advanced than the one on the iPhone 7 Plus. Let’s take a look at what the iPhone 8 Plus have that is not on the iPhone 7 Plus.

iPhone 7 Plus vs iPhone 8 Plus-Performance

This shouldn’t be that surprising, both devices were one year apart. The new iPhone 8 Plus has the new Apple’s chipset, Apple A11 Bionic (Neural engine Embedded M11 motion Coprocessor). The new chip is 70% much faster than the Apple A10 Fusion chip on the iPhone 7 Plus. The CPU frequency on the iPhone 8 Plus is now Hexa-core, an upgrade from the Quad-core on the iPhone 7 Plus.

They might look quite identical, but have you ever wondered why the new iPhone 8 Plus is always shining? That’s because it has a Glass-Backed design, that’s not on the iPhone 7 Plus. Apple even assured their fans that the rear glass on the iPhone 8 Plus is “the strongest glass on any smartphone”. With a “50% deeper strengthening layer”.

It’s like a rainbow with the iPhone 7 Plus, as it is available in Black, Gold, Jet Black, Rose Gold, Red and Silver. While the iPhone 8 Plus is premium and available in a new shade of Gold, Silver and Space Gray only. Although insiders are claiming that Apple might release new colours for the iPhone 8. Also with all the new upgrades comes a heavier and thicker device. The iPhone 8 Plus is disappointedly heavier, weighing 202g compared to 188g the iPhone 7 Plus is weighing. The iPhone 7 Plus also has a better screen to body ratio at 68.2%. Which dropped to 67.37% on the new iPhone 8 Plus.

iPhone 7 Plus vs iPhone 8 Plus-Wireless and Fast Charging

Unlike the iPhone 7 Plus, the new iPhone 8 Plus has a fast charging feature. You can charge the new device from 0% – 50% in just 30 minutes. Apple’s new wireless charging feature is embedded on the iPhone 8 Plus. So you sure have to upgrade to the new device to enjoy this feature.

Based on its Qi standard, the device can be charged by placing it on an inductive charging pad, like Apple’s AirPower mat. You can also use third-party power mat options from accessory designers like Mophie, Belkin, and Incipio.

Other Features:

The new iPhone 8 Plus has Bluetooth 5.0 version, while the iPhone 7 Plus has Bluetooth 4.2. Also the iPhone 8 Plus has 4K video recording at up to 60 FPS, while iPhone 7 Plus has 4K video recording only up to 30 FPS.

They rear and selfie camera on both devices has the exact same MegaPixels and camera features. But Apple claims the new iPhone 8 Plus dual rear camera has been advanced with deeper pixels, a larger, faster sensor and new colour filters.

Conclusion:

I think the new iPhone 8 Plus was designed to be an “iPhone 7s Plus” going with the specs. If you are a true Apple fan then you should know the new iPhone 8 Plus has an “s” upgrade from iPhone 7 Plus. Maybe the name “8” came out of the blue when a certain Sam, who is always building a Galaxy named its new world an “8”.

Nevertheless, it’s worth upgrading with the new features and upgrades it offers. I mean, using an iPhone 7 Plus when the iPhone X is already out, should make you feel two generations old. And with a $200 difference, the new device is definitely worth the upgrade.
