Taiwanese tech company MediaTek has unveiled its latest chipset-the Helio G85.
The Helio G85 is a mobile-gaming focused chipset and is set to deliver both sustained performance and longer gameplay via HyperEngine enhancements.
Alongside the HyperEngine, the chipset features an Arm Mali-G52 GPU clocking at 1GHz for smooth and powerful gaming on mobile.
Despite being a gaming chipset, the Helio G85 comes with an AI Camera feature for advanced imaging. It boosts camera performance for tasks such as scene detection and segmentation, smart photo albums, and bokeh shot enhancements.

Phone makers can take advantage of the chipset’s multi-camera smartphone feature. This means that any of the wide-angle, macro, telescopic or depth sensors can size up to 48MP.
Other notable features of this chipset include dual 4G SIM capability along with enabling a faster connection time, inertial navigation which provides a highly accurate location of the user irrespective of where they at and the integrated voice wake-up (VoW), which reduces the power of apps in the Android operating system e.g. Google Assistant.
As one would expect, the chipset packs an Octa-core CPU. It consists of two Arm Cortex-A75 cores clocking at 2GHz and six Cortex-A55 clocked at 1.8GHz. Thanks to the HyperEngine technology, the MediaTek Helio G85 got a Manhattan benchmark score up to 25fps.
This technology means gamers will get smooth gaming experience especially in heavy-loading game engines like PUBG.
The connectivity enhancements in this chipset also ensure that you get fast response times between your smartphone and the nearest cell tower. This is very crucial especially in a game that features high demanding scenes and intense gameplay.
This will be the fifth gaming-oriented chipset to be released by MediaTek. The G-series is home to the Helio G90, G90T, G80 and G70 chipsets.
