Qualcomm, Huawei, and Samsung already unveiled their chipsets that offer support for 5G modems, and MediaTek is about to toe the same path. The company announced that “it’s almost time” for “smart to meet fast,” and the upcoming 5G-enabled AI product will be released this month, which implies that less than 10 days is left until the launch of the new platform.
Helio M70 was initially launched by the company as the 5G platform; however, it is yet to be released officially or to ship to real device makers. We are not sure whether the new chipset will come with the 5G modem built in, or whether it’ll actually be an official launch of the Helio M70. However, with such a timeline, we may barely see any smartphones featuring the chip by the end of this year.
The major focus of MediaTek is 5G+AI, and the Helio P90 with 12 nm process went official with independent AI processing unit that has the capability of attaining gigabit speeds for AI calculations. The chipmaker claims it has the capability of tracking the human body and reading specific gestures, producing smart beauty body as well as live broadcast of video showing background blur on the spot.
