Chinese smartphone maker, Meizu has unveiled its latest flagship-the 18 series in China with Snapdragon 888 chipsets. The Meizu 18 and 18 Pro come with 5G modem and offer up to 12GB of RAM.
As expected the Meizu 18 Pro is the bigger of the two phones sporting a 6.7-inch 3200x1440px AMOLED screen that supports a 120Hz refresh rate and a 240Hz touch sampling rate.
The display has curved glass on all sides and comes with Qualcomm’s latest 3D ultrasonic fingerprint scanner underneath the display.
The Meizu 18 Pro is powered by the Snapdragon 888 5nm chipset with an X60 5G modem built-in. You get either 8GB or 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM paired with 128GB or 256GB of UFS 3.1.
In the camera front, the Pro version comes with four rear cameras-a 50MP Samsung GN1 sensor and f/1.9 lens, next to it is a 32MP f/2.2 Sony IMX616 ultrawide camera with a 130-degree field of view. The third lens is an 8MP 3x zoom camera (78mm equivalent) and lastly a 3D ToF sensor. As for the selfie camera, it comes with a 44MP selfie shooter.
The Meizu 18 Pro has a 4,500mAh battery with support for 40W wired charging and 10W reverse-wireless charging.
As for the Vanilla version-the Meizu 18, it features a 6.2-inch 3200x1440px AMOLED display with the same 120Hz refresh rate and 240Hz sampling rate. It is also equipped with the same Snapdragon 888 chipset with 8GB or 12GB of RAM, UFS 3.1 storage, and 5G support.
In the camera department, the Meizu 18 has a 64MP f/1.6 Sony IMX682 main camera, 16MP f/2.2 ultrawide unit, and a 8MP 3x telephoto camera. The selfie camera is a 20MP f/2.2 one.
Finally the Meizu 18 has a 4,000mAh battery with 36W charging which doesn’t support wireless charging.
As for the availability and pricing, both phones are already on pre-sale and will be available in stores on March 8. The Meizu 18 comes in White, Blue, and Purple will be available in 8/128GB, 8/256GB, and 12/256GB version for around CNY 4,399, CNY 4,699 and CNY 4,999, respectively. The Meizu 18 Pro will come in White, Blue and Grey and in the same 8/128GB, 8/256GB and 12/256GB configurations. Prices are CNY 4,999, CNY 5,499 and CNY 5,999, respectively.
