Meizu Zero has just snagged the title of the first smartphone with no buttons, speaker cutout, SIM slot(s) or even a USB Port. Before you go on with “is this even a phone without the aforementioned?” you should know that everything they removed has an alternative. USB port? Wireless Charging + Bluetooth for file transfer. SIM slots? eSIM. Speaker? piezoelectric speaker. Buttons? Well, I don’t know yet. Let’s see what else this device has to offer.

Meizu Zero Design And Display
Meizu Zero has a 5.99-inch AMOLED display with Full HD+ 1080p screen resolution and a fingerprint sensor tucked underneath the display. It also has a 19:9 aspect ratio but there is no notch, instead, it has very slim bezels at the top which manages to fit the front-facing camera. There is also a little bit of chin down below.
The back of the device is also minimalistic with only the dual camera setup, LED flash and the Meizu logo towards the bottom which goes perfectly well with its two colours options – Black and Black. Obviously, the body is free of any button, both the power and volume buttons as well as any hole like the SIM port, USB Port and the almost extinct 3.5mm jack.
Meizu Zero Camera Review
The rear camera is a main 12MP wide angle main shooter with f/1.8 aperture and PDAF alongside a secondary 20MP telephoto camera, also with PDAF. The rear camera is equipped a dual-LED dual-tone flash for low light shots. It also has Panorama, HDR and capable of 2160p and 1080p video recording at 30fps. The front-facing 20MP camera is also capable of 1080p video recording at 30fps.
Meizu Zero Hardware and Software
Snapdragon 845 drives this device with its 8-core processors clocked at 2.8GHz and an Adreno 630 GPU for gaming/graphics. There two configurations here, the smallest having 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage and the other having 6GB of RAM and 128GB of Internal Storage. Storage space isn’t expandable on the Meizu Zero as that would require a MicroSD port via a tray which basically goes against the motto of this device. The Meizu Zero runs Android 9.0 Pie out of the box. It will also have an IP68 rating.
Battery & Network Connectivity
The battery capacity is unknown at this point but it will come with Meizu’s Super mCharge (75W). It will also be equipped with 4G LTE, WiFi, WiFi hotspot, WiFi direct, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS and NFC.
Meizu Zero Price and Availability
The Pricing hasn’t been announced yet and the device will reportedly make its debut at MWC which is fast approaching in February. Hopefully, we get to fill in the blanks in the specs sheets as well as get pricing on this device.
