Umidigi recently added a new device, the Umidigi A5 Pro, to their ever-growing list of smartphones. The new smartphone comes with a 6.3-inch FHD+ display, a MediaTek Helio P23 hooked up to 4GB of RAM and a 32GB internal storage. It has a triple rear camera and a single front-facing unit in the notch for selfies. It also has a massive 4,150mAh battery powering it which supports 10W fast battery charging for quick top-ups. Let's dig a little deeper. It has a 2.5D glass back and yet another layer of 2.5D glass protecting the 6.3-inch FHD+ display with Plastic frame. The 6.3-inch display uses the trendy 19:9 aspect ratio with a notch up top housing the single front-facing camera and a very small chin down at the bottom. Turning over to the back of the device reveals the triple camera setup, the LED flash and the fingerprint sensor. The device weighs 203grams and has two Colour options available; Space Grey and Breathing Crystal. It also has a dual SIM card with a separate dedicated microSD card slot for additional storage. Umidigi A5 Pro Camera Review There are a total of 4 cameras on this device and they aren't distributed equally. We have a triple camera set-up at the back which comprises of a main 16MP main camera with an f/1.8 aperture alongside an 8MP ultra-wide-angle camera with a 120° field of view then, a third and last 5MP depth sensor camera for depth Sensing in portrait mode shots. Features of the rear camera include HDR, Portrait mode, Panorama, Ultra wide-angle mode and real-time face filters. The single 16MP front-facing camera has a selfie countdown timer and can also be used for face recognition aka FaceID. Both the front and back cameras can shoot 1080p videos at 30fps. Hardware and Software Inside the Umidigi A5 Pro is the Mediatek Helio P23 SoC which has an octa-core processor clocked at 2.0GHz paired with a Mali-G71 MP2 for gaming/graphics. For multitasking, it has 4GB of RAM with 32GB of internal storage for files. You can get the additional storage through the dedicated microSD card onboard which can accommodate up to 256GB of additional storage. As expected, it runs the latest android operating system; Android 9.0 Pie out of the box with no skin on top of it. Battery and Connectivity The 4,150mAh battery powering this device is said to give 2days worth of use according to Umidigi and can be topped up quickly thanks to its 10W fast battery charging. Unfortunately, it still has the dated microUSB port for charging and file transfer and not the newer USB Type-C port.
