Nokia 1 Plus as you may or may not have already guessed is the upgrade to last year’s Nokia 1 from HMD which just Launched at the ongoing MWC 2019 event at Barcelona. The new Nokia 1 Plus packs some major improvements over its predecessors while still managing to keep its price on the low side as it is budget oriented. It still runs Android Go Edition however, the version has been bumped up to 9.0 Pie. The screen got bigger and so did the battery capacity. Let’s find out what improvements HMD have made.

Nokia 1 Plus has a 5.45-inch IPS LCD display with a 480 x 960 pixels screen resolution, 197ppi and an 18:9 aspect ratio leaving enough room at the top bezel for the front-facing selfie camera. The body of the device is made of plastic which is expected given the price. At the back of the device is a single rear camera with an LED flash and no fingerprint sensor in sight. Colour options available for the Nokia 1 Plus device are Red, Black and Blue.

The front facing camera on the Nokia 1 Plus is a 5MP shooter while the rear camera is an 8MP shooter which is equipped with an LED Flash for low light shots. It also has AF and is capable of 720p video recording at 30fps.

Nokia 1 Plus Hardware and Software

Nokia 1 Plus retains the same SoC as seen in its predecessor. It uses a MediaTek MT6739WW SoC which is a Quad-Core processor clocked at 1.5GHz alongside a PowerVR GE8100 CPU. It has 1GB of RAM which comes with either 8GB of internal storage or a limited Variant with 16GB of internal storage. You’ll still have the option to expand the storage on both through the second SIM slot which doubles as a microSD card slot that can accommodate up to 128GB of storage. It runs the latest Android 9.0 Pie Go Edition out of the box and is set to receive it’s monthly security updates.

Battery & Network Connectivity

Battery got a bump up from the 2,150mAh battery on the Nokia 1 to the 2,500mAh battery on this Nokia 1 Plus which is also removable. No fast charging here, however, there is 4G LTE, WiFi, WiFi hotspot, GPS, Bluetooth, FM radio, a 3.5mm jack and microUSB port.

The Nokia 1 Plus will have a starting price of $89 for the standard 1GB/8GB configuration while the limited 1GB/16GB configuration will carry a price tag of $99.
