Nokia 6 (2018) with Qualcomm Snapdragon 630, Check out the Full Specs

Nokia released the update to last year Nokia 6 smartphone and named it Nokia 6 (2018). The new smartphone comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 chip and a much faster Octa-core processor. I think Nokia is going the way of Samsung with this name though. Naming an update to their midrange smartphones with the year it was released.

DESIGN

There are a few similarities with last year version, but you have to look closely to tell the difference. The rear camera and LED Flash looks far apart this time, with the rear fingerprint scanner underneath them. All of these including the Nokia logo is in a horizontal format at the top middle.

The strong aluminum body looks entirely different from last year’s version. As the aluminum body is an exquisite 6000 series, it supports dual nano sim as well. The new smartphone is comfortable to hold, measuring 8.2mm slim and weighing 172g.

DISPLAY

Finally, a Nokia smartphone with much reduction in bezels, the Nokia 6 (2018) is quite stunning to look at. The 5.5-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen boasts a screen resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels.

Nokia didn’t come to play as they achieved a 73.2% screen-to-body ratio on the device. It boasts of 403 ppi density, which makes the objects on the screen very sharp. The screen on the Nokia 6 (2018) is protected by the Corning Gorilla Glass 3.

HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE

The brain behind the Nokia 6 (2018) is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 chipset with an Octa-core processor. The octa-core processor now clocks at 2.2 GHz, while the Adreno 508 is in charge of the gaming department. Launch your favourite apps and games and multitask through them all with 4GB RAM space.

For storage, there are two variants, one with 64GB internal storage and a cheaper version with 32GB storage. However, both variants are upgradeable up to 256GB using a memory card in the SIM 2 slot. Nokia 6 (2018) runs on Android 7.1.1 Nougat and will automatically receive an update to 8.0 Oreo.

CAMERA

There’s no difference in the camera department from last year’s version, it sports the same 16MP rear camera with f/2.0 aperture for the usual photography. Features on the camera include phase detection autofocus, dual-LED dual-tone flash, geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection, panorama and HDR. For selfies, there’s an 8MP selfie camera with f/2.0 aperture lens with autofocus for the best selfies.

BATTERY

Nokia 6 (2018) is powered by a Non-Removable 3000mAh battery, just like last year’s version. It has the fast charging feature which lets you charge the device from 0% to 50% in just 30 minutes.

Nokia 6 (2018) is available from $249, that’s about N75,000 – N90,000.
