Opera has officially entered the smartphone market. The company released six new OLLA devices that target the budget and mid-range segment of the smartphone market. In this article, we will be looking at one of those six devices – OLLA M8. This M8 smartphone has all the specs and features to be a great budget smartphone under N25,000 for the Nigerian market.

Design
The design of the OLLA M8 is no different from what we have been seeing from most budget smartphones. It comes with a dimension of 166.7 x 75.8 x 8.4 mm. The front is home to its display with a bottom chin. At the top middle of the display is a waterdrop notch which houses the selfie camera. Moving to the back, we have the camera module with LED Flash at the left side corner in a vertical position. Then the fingerprint reader positioned at the top middle. The OLLA M8 is only available in Black and Green body colours.
Display
The OLLA M8 comes with an IPS LCD waterdrop display which measures 5.77 inches in size. The display features 720 x 1600 pixels resolution and 19:9 aspect ratio. It would have been great if the display size was at least 6.0 inches, considering we are in the era of the big cinematic display.
Hardware and Software
The hardware specs of this Opera smartphone isn’t all that appealing. But you can’t expect much from a device in this price range. The phone is being powered by the MediaTek Helio A22 chipset with 1.3 GHz Quad-core (Cortex-A53) processor. For graphics, it is equipped with a PowerVR GE8320 graphics processing unit. This chipset is paired with a 2GB RAM and 16GB ROM. Extra storage via a dedicated microSD slot up to 32GB. The OLLA M8 operates on the Android 9 Pie operating system.
Camera
The rear camera module of the OLLA M8 consists of a 13 MP main sensor and 2 MP secondary sensor. The front-facing camera features a 5 MP sensor for taking beautiful selfies. Both the rear and the front camera has a video recording capability of 1080p resolution at 30 frames per second.
Battery
The battery is not a great feature of this budget device. It packs a non-removable Li-ion 3,000 mAh battery capacity. And supports a standard 5W charging.
Price and Availability
The OLLA M8 will be available for purchase from the 25th February 2020. Its expected starting price is N21,000.
