Oneplus 6T Unboxing and First Impression

OnePlus 6T was launched late last month as a successor to the previous OnePlus 6 packing some major albeit subtle changes. We happen to have a unit of the device here with us and will be unboxing and sharing with you our first impression of this flagship device.

On the white box of the device is the OnePlus logo along with 6T written on the sides. Speaking about what’s written on the device, some of this device’s key specs are also written on the box which includes the following:

– 16MP + 20MP rear camera and 16MP front-facing camera.
– Snapdragon 845, Octa-core 2.8GHz

Opening the box we’re greeted with the OnePlus 6T device in all its glory sporting the front glass(Corning Gorilla Glass 6) on top the 6.41-inch Optic AMOLED display with a small water drop notch housing the single 16MP front-facing camera, a huge improvement from the basic sized notch found on its predecessor.

This display has a screen resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels and a 402 pixel per inch density. The back of the device is also covered with glass although there is no wireless charging support.

Dual 16MP + 20MP rear cameras are lined up horizontally at the back with the LED flash underneath those cameras. The fingerprint sensor is also nowhere to be found at the back of the device as it has been moved to underneath the display at the front which OnePlus boasts of the fastest Under-display fingerprint sensor in the market. We’ll have to test that out to find out if their claims are actually true.

The frame on this device is made of aluminium which just completes the look of this flagship device. The unit we have here has a mirror black colour however, you can get it in two other different flavours – Thunder Purple, Midnight Black.

At the top left side is the dual-SIM Slot (Nano SIM) to house the SIM cards. There are no MicroSD cards here and we will have to make do with the internal storage.

At bottom of the device are the speakers placed left and right and at the middle is USB Type-C port for file transfer and charging.

About charging, OnePlus’s proprietary fast charger; Dash Charger which is also included in the box can get the device to 50% from 0% in less than 30 minutes. At the top of the device is also free of the 3.5mm headphone which is nowhere to be found on the device.

However, a USB Type-C to 3.5m headphone jack adaptor comes in the box for those who aren’t just ready to go wireless (myself included). Some fans of the OnePlus aren’t quite happy about the removal of the 3.5mm jack but OnePlus seem to be making things easier for their fans by including an adaptor to help with that in the box.

Also included in the box is a screen protector and a somewhat black yet transparent case for the device so I guess we won’t be shopping for those. Since the device is made of glass and is kinda slippery, adding the plastic case to help with that was the right call on their part.

Overall I’d give OnePlus an 8/10 as the packaging is pretty simple, neat and most importantly, it has every accessory you would think of buying after getting this device. From the case to the screen protector and the 3.5mm adaptor. The only thing missing is a headphone which I guess is slowly going extinct so who needs that?

What do you all think about the OnePlus 6T?
