OnePlus 8 Pro launched With 120Hz screen and Wireless Charging

Amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, OnePlus unveils its much-awaited Flagship smartphones – the OnePlus 8. The flagship device debuts with a pro version. as expected, both smartphones will be available at reasonable prices.

The device is built around a screen that measures 6.55-inch in size with a 1080p resolution and 90Hz refresh rate. The Fluid AMOLED display features a punch-hole on the top left-hand side, which is home to the 16MP f/2.0 selfie camera.

The rectangular-shaped camera module with curved edges at the back features three cameras. The first one is a 48MP Sony IMX586 sensor, follow by a 16MP ultrawide angle with 116° FoV and a 2MP macro camera.

Under the hood, the OnePlus 8 is powered by Snapdragon 865 SoC. The chipset is paired with either an 8GB or 12GB of RAM. Storage options is 128GB or 256GB. And of course, it supports both Wi-Fi 6 and 5G connectivity.

The device packs a 4,300 mAh battery and supports Warp Charge 30T via USB type-C. The device will be available in

Ultramarine Blue, Glacial Green, Onyx Black & Interstellar Glow with a glossy finish and Glacial Green with a matte finish. Verizon will get an exclusive Polar Silver body colour version. With $700/£599, you can purchase the base model (8GB/128GB). While an additional $100/£100 gets you the 12GB/256GB version at $800/£699.

The pro version comes with a bigger screen measuring 6.78-inch and a 120Hz refresh rate. Both are first-timer features for the OnePlus brand.

The selfie camera remains the same, embedded inside the punch-hole display. For the main camera, the OnePlus 8 features a quad-camera module. This composes of two 48MP cameras, one is a Sony IMX689 sensor which acts as the main lens while the other is an ultrawide angle sensor with 120° FoV. The other two cameras are an 8MP telephoto and 5MP depth sensor.

The OnePlus 8 is also powered by Snapdragon 865 chipset and has the same memory configurations. Battery-wise, it packs a bigger 4,510 mAh capacity and supports not only wired fast charging but also wireless fast charging and reverse wireless charging.

The smartphone will be available in only three body colour options; Ultramarine Blue, Onyx Black and Glacial Green. The 8/128GB base model costs $899/£799 while the 12/256GB option goes for $999/£899.

Both the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro is expected to be available for purchase from April 24. The phones will be available in the US via Amazon and other major carriers. Other regions/markets can buy at OnePlus.com
