The Oppo A12 is one of the newest members of the A-series to make into the market. The budget smartphone isn’t really making headline in the industry since launching in India. Design
The smartphone body build is made up of plastic with a 3D diamond blaze design. The dual rear camera along with LED flash is arranged horizontally in the top left corner. And just below them, towards the middle is a fingerprint reader for biometric security. Overall, the device’s design is ergonomic with smooth and elegant curves. It weighs just 165 grams which is extremely light and measures 8.3mm in thickness. The Oppo A12 comes in two simple body colour options; Black and Blue.
Display
The Oppo A12 is built around an eye-catching display that measures 6.22-inch and features 720 x 1520 pixels resolution, 19:9 aspect ratio and 270 PPI density. The waterdrop notch display comes with an eye protection system which filters out harmful blue light to prevent eye strain and protect your vision for all-day enjoyment.
Hardware and Software
Performance-wise, the Oppo smartphone has a MediaTek Helio P35 SoC built on a 12nm process tech. The chip features an eight-core processor with a clock speed of 2.3GHz and a PowerVR GE8320 GPU. Its memory configuration is 3GB RAM with 32GB internal storage. Expansion of the storage can be done via the microSD slot for up to 256GB. Despite being a 2020 smartphone, it runs on an outdated Android 9 Pie OS with Oppo’s ColorOS 6.1 UI on top.
Camera
The Oppo A12 sports an AI dual rear camera which consists of a 13MP f/2.2 main lens and a 2MP f/2.4 depth lens. The camera system features portrait bokeh, dazzle colour mode, AI beautification which identifies skin type, skin tone, gender and age.
For taking selfies, the phone sports a 5MP f/2.0 camera in the waterdrop notch display. This camera is also responsible for the AI face unlock system which uses Oppo’s advanced facial recognition which uses 128 biometric points to identify you.
Battery
The Oppo A12 is well equipped with a non-removable 4,230 mAh battery capacity. It is capable of lasting up to 17 hours watching HD videos or up to 8 hours of gaming.
