Oppo mobile recently launched the new Reno 5 series. So far, there have been two models released with a third one planned for late December. The two are Oppo Reno 5 and Reno 5 Pro. Both feature 5G and are quite identical in terms of body design and build. Our focus in this article will be on the Pro model which is expected to have better specs and features to the vanilla model. Design and Display
The design of the Reno 5 Pro 5G is just as you would have expected. It comes in a front and back glass with aluminium frame. The back glass is engraved which produce a pattern of microscopic pyramids. This leads to the surface being fingerprint-resistant. The rear camera pump glows in the dark thanks to a fluorescent coating. The Oppo Reno 5 Pro 5G measures 7.6mm in thickness and 173g in weight. The phone is available in four body colour options – Starry Night, Aurora Blue, Moonlight Black and Star Wish Red.
The Reno 5 Pro 5G is equipped with a large 6.5″ OLED panel with an almost 90% screen-to-body ratio. The display features a 1080 x 2400 pixels resolution, 90Hz refresh rate and 180Hz touch sampling rate. The brightness is maxed at 500nits which is higher than what you’ll get on the vanilla Reno 5.
Hardware and Software
The Oppo phone is powered by MediaTek Dimensity 1000+ chipset with Octa-core 2.6GHz processor. Handling the graphics department is the Mali-G77 MC9 GPU. The chip is paired with two memory configurations – 8GB RAM with 128GB storage or 12GB RAM with 256GB storage.
Camera and Battery
The Oppo Reno 5 Pro 5G uses a module that hosts four cameras – a 64MP f/1.7 main lens with EIS & PDAF, an 8MP f/2.2 ultrawide lens, a 2MP f/2.4 macro lens and a 2MP f/2.4 depth lens. The cutout on the display is where you’ll find the 32MP f/2.4 selfie camera. It can also be used for face unlock (alternative biometric security to the in-display fingerprint reader).
Battery-wise, the Oppo Reno 5 Pro 5G packs a 4,300 mAh battery capacity. With the SuperVOOC 2.0 charging support peaked at 65W speed, you don’t need up to 90 minutes to refill the juice. Other charging support includes reverse charging, 18W QuickCharge chargers and USB Power Delivery.
