The company also introduced the Snapdragon 2500 which will work for kids’ smart wearables. Now, the new SOC will serve as Bluetooth audio SoC. It will focus on improving entry-level to mid-tier Bluetooth headsets.
One of the features includes a TrueWireless Stereo technology and protocols, which Qualcomm says will reduce power consumption by up to 50% compared to regular headsets. The chip will start powering headsets and earbuds from the second half of 2018.
However, the first earbuds housing the chip is already out. The Oppo’s O-Free Wireless earphones we reported earlier is powered by this chipset and can go up to 4 hours away from the charging box. We can’t wait to see other budget-friendly headphones and earbuds being powered by this chip from Qualcomm.
