Design And Display

Samsung Galaxy A2 Core

Samsung Galaxy A2 Core has a 5.0-inch IPS LCD panel with a screen resolution of 540 x 960 pixels which is probably what the SoC can push out. It uses a 16:9 aspect ratio with huge bezels at the top and bottom. As for the body, it is obviously made of plastic given that it is a budget device. The back of the device has only the rear camera and an LED flash – no fingerprint sensor. This device has a dual SIM card slot and a sperate/dedicated slot for a microSD card in case you want more storage. You can do that without losing a SIM slot.

Samsung Galaxy A2 Core Camera Review

The camera setup on the Samsung Galaxy A2 Core is pretty much what you’d expect from a budget device. A 5MP shooter sits at the back of the device with an f/1.9 aperture, AF, HDR and an LED flash for low light shots. It can also shoot 1080p videos at 30fps. The front-facing camera for selfies is yet another single 5MP camera but with a higher f/2.2 aperture.

Hardware and Software

Samsung went for their own in-house Exynos 7870 Octa SoC for this device. It is a chipset with an Octa-core processor clocking speeds of up to 1.6GHz paired with a Mali-T830 MP1 GPU for graphics and gaming. It has 1GB of RAM for the running of apps and 16GB of internal storage for files. Storage space can go as high as 512GB via the dedicated microSD card slot on board. Samsung Galaxy A2 Core runs Android 8.0 Oreo Go Edition out of the box which will be covered by the Samsung Experience UI.

Battery & Network Connectivity

Inside the device is a 2,600mAh battery tasked with keeping the lights turned on. No fast charging here though. However, there is 4G LTE connectivity, Bluetooth, GPS, WiFi, WiFi direct, WiFi hotspot, FM radio and the good old 3.5mm jack. Charging as well as file transfer is done through the micro USB port at the bottom of the device.
