Samsung has announced her first smartphone with dual front cameras, the Samsung Galaxy A8 [2018]. Two devices were actually announced as follow up to their midrange series, the A8 and A8 plus.

The new Galaxy A8 [2018] device has dual selfie camera and an infinity display and should be out as early as next month. I will be reviewing the Galaxy A8 here, please stay with me.

Samsung Galaxy A8 [2018] DESIGN

From a distance, you can spot similarities with the Galaxy S8, because both front and back are covered with glass. The stunning design on the Galaxy A8 is out of this world, come on its Samsung! The smartphone is also IP68 certified, offering dust and water resistant.

Not as slim as the Galaxy S8 but it sure comes close, measuring 8.4mm slim. The device weighs 172g and was made available in Black, Gold, Gray and Blue colours.

The 5.6-inch device boasts of a Super AMOLED infinity display with screen resolution of 1080 x 2220 pixels. The phone sports top and bottom bezels, but they are thick and ultra slim. Samsung achieved a 75.6% screen to body ratio on the A8, and a pixel by inch density of 441ppi.

HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE

Galaxy A8 houses the Samsung Exynos Octa 7885 chipset clocking at Octa-core 2.2 GHz ARM Cortex-A73 processor. A beauty that runs like a beast, no slow mode with the A8 packing 4GB RAM. Its graphics processing unit is a Mali-G71.

In terms of storage, you get 64GB internal storage for storing files. If the 64GB isn’t enough, you can upgrade up to 256GB using microSD, microSDHC, microSDXC. Samsung Galaxy A8 runs on Android 7.1 Nougat operating system.

Take amazing selfies with the dual 16MP + 8MP selfie camera, both with f/1.9 lens. At the back, there’s a single 16MP camera with f/1.7 lens with autofocus and other quality camera features. Of course, the cameras won’t be as sharp as their flagship, the Galaxy S8. But for a supposed “midrange”, the cameras are more than perfect!
