Samsung Galaxy A8 Plus Full Specifications Review and Price

Samsung Galaxy A8 Plus review

To end the year with style, Samsung added two near-bezel-less smartphones to their midrange series, the Galaxy A8 and A8 Plus.

I have earlier written on the Galaxy A8 [2018] and in this post, I will be reviewing the specs and special features of the Samsung Galaxy A8 Plus. The new device has dual selfie camera and sports the Infinity Display with just little bezels.

Samsung had a great year in 2017, and with the way they are going, 2018 would be much better. I will be reviewing the Galaxy A8 Plus, stay with me.

DESIGN

On a closer look, the Samsung Galaxy A8 Plus bears a striking resemblance to the Galaxy S8 Plus, because the Galaxy A8 Plus is a bigger version of the A8 of course. Featuring both front and back glass for protection and a classy feel.

The Galaxy A8 Plus is almost as beautiful as the Galaxy S8 Plus, almost. The smartphone is also IP68 certified, offering dust and water resistant for not more than 30 minutes. Which is a plus if you ask me considering the price of the device.

Samsung Galaxy A8 plus

Surprisingly the Galaxy A8 Plus is slimmer than the actual A8, measuring 8.3mm slim. While the Galaxy A8 measures 8.4mm slim. The bigger the device, the heavier it becomes, of course, the A8 Plus weighs 191g and was made available in Black, Gold, Gray and Blue colours.

DISPLAY

The Samsung Galaxy A8 Plus sports a 6-inch Super AMOLED infinity display with screen resolution of 1080 x 2220 pixels. The phone has top and bottom bezels, but they are not that annoying because they are ultra slim. Samsung achieved a 75.43% screen to body ratio on the A8 Plus, and a pixel by inch density of 411ppi. Meaning the display on the A8 Plus won’t be as sharp as the much compact A8.

HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE

Galaxy A8 Plus houses the Samsung Exynos Octa 7885 chipset clocking at Octa-core 2.2 GHz ARM Cortex-A73 processor. The Samsung Galaxy A8 Plus has much RAM space, there’s no slow mode with the A8 Plus as it boasts of 6GB RAM. The graphics processing unit on the device is a Mali-G71.

In terms of storage, you get 64GB internal storage for storing all your files. Then if that isn’t enough, you can upgrade up to 256GB using microSD, microSDHC, microSDXC. Samsung Galaxy A8 Plus runs on Android 7.1 Nougat operating system.

CAMERA

Take amazing selfies with the dual 16MP + 8MP selfie camera, both with f/1.9 lens. At the back, there’s a single 16MP camera with f/1.7 lens with autofocus and other quality camera features. Of course, the cameras won’t be as sharp as the company’s flagship, the Galaxy S8. But for a supposed “midrange”, the cameras are more than perfect!

BATTERY

Samsung Galaxy A8 Plus is powered by a 3300mAh Non-removable battery.

PRICE AND AVAILABILITY

Samsung Galaxy A8 Plus is available for Pre-order for $629, that’s about N230,000 – N240,000.
