Samsung Mobile is back with another M-series smartphone. The new Samsung Galaxy M31 falls under the upper mid-range segment of the market. It is set to challenge the likes of Oppo A9, Xiaomi Mi 9T and Realme XT. Even in the Samsung family, it has a great competitor in the Galaxy A51, as they are both powered by the Exynos 9611 chipset.

Design
The Galaxy M31 features two simple body colours; Black and Blue. It measures 8.9mm in thickness and weighs 191 grams. At the back of the phone are a fingerprint reader, camera module and the Samsung brand name. The front is home to its waterdrop notch display with a visible bottom bezel. The body build features a glass front with polycarbonate material at the side and back.

This device is regarded as a “Mega Performer” by the company. It is powered by their Exynos 9611 chipset built on 10nm FinFET process with Octa-core processor clocking up to 2.3GHz. The chipset is married to a 6GB RAM and either a 64GB or 128GB UFS2.1 storage. There is a dedicated slot for expanding the storage up to 512GB. The Galaxy device runs on Google’s Android 10 OS with Samsung’s One UI 2.0 skin.
Camera
At the top left back of the Galaxy M31 is a rectangular shaped quad-camera module. The system comprising of a 64MP f/1.8 main sensor, an 8MP f/2.2 ultrawide sensor with 123° Field of View, a 5MP f/2.4 macro camera and a 5MP f/2.2 depth sensor for portrait shots. Inside the waterdrop notch, we have a 32MP camera that features slow motion, 4K video recording, AR emoji and AR Doodle. Both the rear and front cameras of the Galaxy M31 can record 4K videos at 30fps. They also both feature HDR.
