Samsung is back with another foldable smartphone – the Galaxy Z Flip. The folding mechanism of the Galaxy Z Flip is different from the Galaxy Fold (Samsung’s first foldable smartphone).
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip folds into a tiny size and protecting the display as a result. When the phone is unfolded, it features a 6.7 Dynamic AMOLED display with 22:9 aspect ratio and 1080 x 2636 pixels resolution. When folded, there is a 1.1-inch secondary Super AMOLED display at the back where you can see notifications. The device should be more resistant to scratches thanks to its Ultra-Thin Glass layer.
Powering the phone is 2019’s Snapdragon 855+ chipset which is laced with an 8GB RAM and 256GB ROM (UFS 3.0 storage). There is no 5G connectivity here. Running inside the phone is the Android 10 operating system with One UI 2.0 custom skin. It packs a battery capacity of 3,300 mAh and supports 15W wired charging and wireless charging.
Camera-wise, the Galaxy Z Flip comes with a dual rear camera. The main 12MP camera features an f/1.8 aperture while the 12MP ultrawide camera has an f/2.2 aperture. For selfies, the foldable smartphone has a 10MP snapper with f/2.4 aperture. You get to fold the device into various angles for photos and video recording.
The device will be available from February 14, 2020, in three body colour options; Mirror Gold and Mirror Purple and Mirror Black. The starting price is $1,380/€1,500.
