Samsung Galaxy Z Flip Design And Display

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip design is definitely something you don’t see every day, at least these days though. It has a foldable smartphone with a clamshell design which means that its folds like a flip phone. When Unfolded, you get to see the 6.7-inch foldable Dynamic AMOLED display which has an FHD+ resolution, 425ppi and uses a 20:9 aspect ratio. The display also supports HDR10+ contents too.

At the top of the display lies the punch hole housing the front-facing camera just below the speaker grill. Turning the device over to the back reveals the dual rear camera with an LED flash alongside the secondary 1.1-inch Super AMOLED display. There is no fingerprint sensor on the back of this device, neither is it on underneath the display, it is actually mounted on the side of this device.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip has a Corning gorilla glass 6 both at the front, on top of the display, and at the back with an aluminium frame on the sides. It also weighs 183grams and measures 7.2mm when Unfolded and 17.3mm when folded. Colour options for this device includes Mirror Black, Mirror Purple and Mirror Gold.

Hardware and Software

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip is rocking the Snapdragon 855+ SoC from Qualcomm which packs an octa-core processor clocked at 2.95GHz paired with an Adreno 640 GPU clocked at 700MHz. This is hooked up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. Unfortunately, there is no other RAM/Storage option and there is no microSD card slot here so you’ll have to make do with this.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip runs Samsung’s own One UI 2 out of the box which is based on the latest Android operating system version; Android 10. As you’d expect, this device comes with some tweaks in the software department to better make use of the flip and the secondary display. There is no 5G here.
