The first big announcement from the MWC 2021 is here. It comes from an American multinational company, Qualcomm as they announced the Snapdragon 888 Plus chipset. The chip proclaims to perform 20% better with a 3GHz prime CPU core and improved AI Engine.
The standard Snapdragon 888 was launched back in December 2020, and it seems to share the majority of its specs with the Plus variant. The main difference between both chipsets is the CPU clock speed, which on the SD 888 Plus is now 2.995GHz approx. 3GHz. Also, the sixth generation Hexagon 780 AI processor can now deliver 32TOPS (Tera Operations Per Second). For comparison, the regular SD 888 is maxed at 26TOPS.

Other key features of the Snapdragon 888 Plus are the same as the standard version – Adreno 660 GPU, FastConnect 6900 and Snapdragon X60 5G modem with 7.5 Gbps top DL speed. When a user does not rely on mobile data, the FastConnect 6900 enables all the latest Wi-Fi standards for fast-speed download.
Devices with the new Snapdragon 888 Plus is expected to launch as early as the third quarter (Q3) of 2021. Also, representatives of Motorola, Xiaomi, Asus and Vivo have somewhat confirmed their interest in using the chipset.
