Qualcomm has introduced the Snapdragon G3x Gen 1 chipsets for handheld video game consoles like the PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox One. The Snapdragon XR2 powering devices like the Oculus Quest 2 VR headset is included in this new chipset.
Fast charging, stereo haptics, immersive sound, a cooling fan, and an exclusive Adreno GPU with a frame rate of up to 120 frames per second are all features of the Snapdragon G3x Gen 1 Gaming Platform.
An HDR OLED display with a 120 Hz refresh rate is included in the Development kit. The graphics resolution is 1,080 pixels with a frame rate of 120 frames per second, and the system has active cooling for solid performance. It comes with a 6,000 mAh battery with fast charging capabilities. Because the battery is decent and there is a quick charge option, this device could be used for long gaming sessions.
DisplayPort over USB-C is supported by the development kit, allowing it to output to a 4K TV. AR/VR accessories can also be powered via the USB-C port.

Qualcomm intends to use the Android operating system exclusively to run the Snapdragon G3x platform, but it will support other platforms in the future. This chipmaker has teamed up with a company that specializes in mapping on-screen controls to physical joysticks, buttons, and triggers.

The Snapdragon G3x platform will support controllers and has advanced features such as stereo haptics. The device has the latest Wi-Fi 6E and a 5G mmWave modem for connectivity. A front-facing webcam with a resolution of 1,080 pixels allows gamers to add commentary without the need for additional hardware. Mobile gamers are expected to generate $90 billion in revenue by 2021, according to reports. For all smartphone companies, handheld consoles are going to be a major new platform.
