Chinese multinational electronics company, TCL makes their grand debut into the mobile phone world with the new PLEX smartphone.
TCL is a top TV manufacturer in the world. They are the fastest-growing TV brand in the United States presently.
The company have a bit of experience in the mobile world having previously worked side by side with Alcatel and Blackberry. But will now have a smartphone under the company’s name.
The new mid-range PLEX phone comes with a 6.53-inch FHD+ LCD display and a punch-hole at the top left which is home to a 24MP selfie camera.
The company comes with their NXTVISION software for the optimization of display and camera. This means we’ll get enhanced colour, contrast and clarity in real-time. The phone will also be able to convert videos from SDR and HDR.
Aligned at the back in a horizontal direction is the triple main cameras consisting of a 48MP f/1.8 sensor, 16MP f/2.4 ultra-wide sensor and a 2MP depth sensor. The phone features the company’s Super Night Mode with other AI beautification features.
Under the hood of the PLEX phone is Snapdragon 675 SoC tangled with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage expandable via microSD slot. Inside the device is TCL’s UI which is based on Android Pie.
Battery wise, PLEX packs a 3,820 mAh capacity and supports 18W fast charging. Other basic features include a Smart Key, 3.5mm headphone jack and a T-Cast app which lets you control TCL smart TVs.
PLEX will arrive in the last quarter of the year in Obsidian Black and Opal White. It will first hit the European market with a starting price of €329/$360. For now, there is no information regarding other markets.
