The Phantom Series by Tecno is where they put all of their efforts and produce a flagship device. Phantom devices come with the best camera innovation and performance is always great. This year they released two powerful phones and we are going to go over them here. The Pro model is the first phone in the world to come with a retractable portrait camera lens. I’m sure you are surprised it will all make sense in a bit.
Now, both the new Phantom X2 and Phantom X2 Pro come powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9000. It is a 4nm chipset using some of the latest tech to beef it up. The level of upgrade coming from the Tecno Phantom X that was powered by the MediaTek Helio G95 is insane. They can’t even be compared in any aspect, they are entirely different phones. The Tecno Phantom X2 comes with 8GB LPDDR5X RAM while the Phantom X2 Pro comes with 12GB RAM and 256GB UFS 3.1 storage.
They both have an AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and Full HD+ resolution. It has a 6.8 inch with a 20:9 aspect ratio. The display on both phones is protected by the Corning Gorilla Glass Victus, the first time we are seeing that on a Tecno Phone. Both phones come with a 5160mAh battery and they support 45Watts fast charging.
Tecno Phantom X2 Pro and X2 More Specs
The biggest difference between the two phones is the camera. We have a retractable portrait lens on the Tecno Phantom X2 Pro and that’s the biggest difference. It has an f/1.5 aperture which is wide for a 65mm smartphone lens. The aperture lets in more light to the 50MP sensor, and you will get a natural-looking bokeh for portrait images. You can also use it as a telephoto lens with up to 2.5x zoom. And that is why it is a retractable lens. This keeps the phone thin since it can retract back after taking the photo.
It has a 50MP main camera and it takes really good images. There is also a 13MP ultra-wide lens on the Pro model and can also act as a macro camera with autofocus. The Phantom X2 has an RGBW sensor and it captures 60% more light, it also has one glass element that lets it take 30% more light in. There is a 2MP depth sensor and a 13MP ultra-wide lens that doubles as a macro lens. The front-facing camera on both phones is 32MP.
They both have the camera shape at the back. The Phantom X2 Pro comes in mars orange and stardust grey, the mars orange is made from recycled plastic from the Ocean. We have the regular Phantom X2 in Moonlight Silver and Stardust Grey. The phones are expected to hit the shelves next week and the Phantom X2 Pro is expected to be priced close to $1000 while the Tecno Phantom X2 is expected to be priced near $720. We’ll share more details once we have a hands-on.
