TECNO POVA 8 Unveiled with Massive 8,000mAh Battery and New Alive Matrix Display

TECNO has officially introduced the new POVA 8 smartphone, bringing major upgrades to its gaming-focused POVA lineup. The device combines a large battery, high refresh rate display, and a new interactive rear design called the Alive Matrix Display, positioning the POVA 8 as one of TECNO’s most ambitious mid-range smartphones yet.

The latest release follows the POVA 7 series and continues TECNO’s push into performance-driven smartphones targeted at gamers, entertainment lovers, and power users who prioritize long battery life and immersive mobile experiences.

TECNO Introduces the New Alive Matrix Display

One of the standout features of the TECNO POVA 8 is the new Alive Matrix Display integrated into the rear camera module. Unlike traditional rear designs, TECNO has transformed one section of the camera island into a mini dot-matrix display capable of showing dynamic visual effects and notifications.

The feature replaces the triangular Delta Light Interface seen on the POVA 7 series, which used a strip of 104 LEDs for visual alerts and gaming effects. With the POVA 8, TECNO appears to be taking the concept further by introducing a more advanced interactive lighting system that adds a futuristic identity to the device.

The Alive Matrix Display is positioned within the third circular module on the rear camera setup. While the camera island appears to house multiple lenses, only one rear camera sensor is present alongside the new display feature.

Bigger 8,000mAh Battery Takes Center Stage

Battery life is one of the biggest upgrades on the TECNO POVA 8. The smartphone packs a massive 8,000mAh battery, significantly larger than the 6,000mAh unit found on the previous generation.

According to TECNO, the battery has been tested by TÜV SÜD and is capable of delivering up to two full days of usage on a single charge under typical usage conditions. This positions the POVA 8 among the smartphones with the largest battery capacities in its category.

TECNO also claims the battery is designed for long-term durability, with the ability to maintain at least 80% of its original battery health after more than 2,000 charging cycles. Based on average daily usage, this could translate to several years of reliable performance.

The phone supports 45W fast charging, allowing the battery to charge from 1% to 50% in approximately 35 minutes. Reverse wired charging at 10W is also supported, enabling users to power smaller devices when needed.

However, one notable change is the removal of wireless charging support, which was available on the previous POVA model.

Powered by MediaTek Dimensity 7100

Under the hood, the TECNO POVA 8 is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7100 chipset. While the processor is newer in launch timeline compared to the Dimensity 7300 used in the POVA 7, it is built on a 6nm process instead of the more advanced 4nm architecture.

The chipset is paired with 8GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB of UFS 2.2 internal storage, offering a balance between multitasking performance and storage capacity.

To manage heat during gaming and extended use, TECNO equipped the device with a large 15,000mm² graphite cooling system designed to improve thermal performance and sustain stable frame rates.

TECNO says the POVA 8 has been optimized to deliver stable 90fps gameplay on selected popular titles, including Honor of Kings and Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, making it appealing to mobile gamers looking for smoother performance.

144Hz Display Designed for Gaming and Entertainment

The TECNO POVA 8 features a 6.76-inch IPS LCD display with a 1080p+ resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate. The high refresh rate aims to provide smoother animations, improved scrolling responsiveness, and a more fluid gaming experience.

The display also includes a 240Hz touch sampling rate to improve touch responsiveness during gameplay and fast interactions.

TECNO additionally introduced Wet & Oily Finger Touch Recognition 2.0, a feature intended to improve touch accuracy even when fingers are wet or oily.

The device ships with HiOS 16 based on Android 16 out of the box.

Camera System Features Sony Lytia Sensor

On the camera side, the TECNO POVA 8 comes equipped with a 50MP Sony Lytia 600 rear sensor with autofocus support and 2x in-sensor zoom capability.

Although the rear camera island visually suggests a triple-camera setup, TECNO confirmed that only one rear camera sensor is included, while another circular section houses the Alive Matrix Display.

For selfies and video calls, the smartphone features a 13MP front-facing camera.

Design, Durability and Color Options

TECNO is offering the POVA 8 in four color variants:

  • Arc White
  • Graphite Black
  • Helios Orange
  • Echo Green

The smartphone also carries an IP64 rating, meaning it is protected against dust and water splashes for added durability in daily use.

TECNO Continues Expanding the POVA Lineup

With the POVA 8, TECNO continues focusing on battery endurance, gaming performance, and distinctive smartphone design. The addition of the Alive Matrix Display gives the device a unique identity in the competitive mid-range smartphone market, while the 8,000mAh battery addresses the growing demand for longer-lasting mobile devices.

Although some premium features such as wireless charging have been removed, the POVA 8 introduces several upgrades that may appeal to users prioritizing gaming, battery life, and multimedia consumption.

TECNO has confirmed that the POVA 8 will be available soon in selected markets, though official pricing and regional availability details are yet to be announced.
