Global innovative technology brand TECNO has unveiled its latest technological breakthrough, the chameleon coloring technology, on day one of the company’s first-ever appearance at the MWC. This groundbreaking color-changing technology can change a device’s back cover to entirely different colors based on the usage or user customization, allowing users to freely showcase their style without being locked into just one color option. The new technology adapts a unique material that allows for a continuous change of colors up to 2 million times, with rapid color changing in just 0.03 seconds.
The MWC began in Barcelona, and some phones and gadgets were announced on the first day. This is the first time Tecno is participating in the show. At the event, Tecno showcased a brand new chameleon-changing technology. It is impressive to see that Tecno isn’t settling for less and is pushing boundaries regarding mobile technology.
There is little knowledge of how the chameleon color-changing technology works, but Tecno used a grid of sub-micron prism material for the color-changing technology. It has a full spectrum of electrically controlled prism coloring techniques and changes direction when an electrical field is applied. The substance can refract light in various wavelengths by carefully adjusting the prism’s direction. It produces an array of iridescent colors. The substance does not produce any light and is not a display. It scatters light off its surface, coloring it as a result.

You can manually select from 1600 colors using the phone’s software to manipulate sub-micron prism arrangement. It may also vary automatically based on battery level, notification, or music. It can be done up to 2 million times, making it durable even with many daily adjustments. The phone has a 0.03 color-changing time which is quick.
It is also energy efficient; 1000 color changes daily will use as much battery power as watching a 5-minute video.
However, this won’t be the first color-changing technology applied to TECNO’s devices.. Tecno has a special edition Camon 19 Pro Mondrian Edition that changes color when exposed to UV light. The phone has few color options and can’t be manually modified with software. Tecno took it a step further because, with the Chameleon color-changing technology, you can change the color and pick from the 1000 color schemes available.
