Xiaomi’s new CC series is official, and the Mi CC9, Mi CC9e, and Mi CC9 Meitu Edition are the first mobile devices released from the line. These phones come with distinct features for a variety of segments; however, they’re all focused on offering superb selfies as well as large batteries.
Xiaomi Mi CC9
The Mi CC9 has a balanced spec sheet. It is designed with a 6.39″ Super AMOLED display, powered by Snapdragon 710 chipset, and packs triple camera system. Its maker claims that its front-facing selfie camera with 32MP F/2.0 ranks “the best in its class”.
The phone display gets a 1080 by 2340-px resolution, along with a water-drop notch & under-display fingerprint scanner. It is coming with the new Mimoji animated avatars, in addition to a dedicated Artificial Intelligence (AI) portrait mode, both of which are provided for use in low light (or poorly lit) environs on the front shooter.
The smartphone sports a dual-glass design that has a metal frame in the middle, and the back features a fascinating light refracting finish that is capable of shifting color when light falls on it. The Mi CC9’s weight is pegged at 179 grams and its thickness 8.67mm.
The device, around the back, features on a triple cam setup comprising a 48MP F/1.8 primary shooter, an 8MP ultrawide module, alongside a 2MP cam for depth sensing.
Under the hood, you’ll see the Snapdragon 710 chipset, which is paired with 6GB or 8 GB of RAM and 64GB or 128GB of ROM (expandable with microSD card). Expectedly, the new phone ships with Android v.9.0 Pie with MIUI 10 on top.
Its battery is non-removable and has 4,030mAh capacity. It supports 18W fast charging. Other features of Mi CC9, worthy of note, are a 3.5mm headphones jack, an IR port, and NFC.
It was made available for pre-orders yesterday, and sales will officially start Friday, July 5. Pricing will start at US$260 (CNY 1,799) for the 6GB RAM & 64GB ROM variant, while the 6GB/128GB model sets you back by $290 (CNY 1,999. The handset will go on sale in a variety of color options, including Blue, White, and Black.
Xiaomi Mi CC9e
This is the second mobile phone in the new CC lineup. The “e” in the device name stands for “Essential Edition”, and the Chinese brand claims that the Mi CC9e comes with all the main function of the typical CC9 model in a smaller form factor.
No changes are made to the front and rear cameras in both smartphones, but the Xiaomi display is smaller at 6 inches and 1560 by 72-pixel resolution. The phone also features the same AMOLED technology, under-display fingerprint sensor & the battery capacity.
However, a major difference between both lies in the chipset used as the Mi CC9e comes with the brand-new Snapdragon 665. The handset will be sold in 3 versions: 4GB RAM/64GB ROM, 6GB/64GB as well as 6GB/128GB versions. And these start at $189 (CNY 1,299) and maxes out at $232 (CNY 1,599).
Mi CC9 Meitu Edition
The Xiaomi CC9 Meitu Edition is the last phone in the series. It shares some similarities with the regular CC9. But it has a handful of camera tweaks, developed by the Meitu team, which the Chinese manufacturer acquired late last year.
With its AI low-light portrait mode, full body beauty filters, and movie portrait, the CC9 Meitu Edition is targeted at vloggers. There’s also a special vlog mode that comes with video stabilization. The remaining specs are identical to that of the Mi CC9, and the Snapdragon 710 system on a chip (SoC) is combined with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of built- storage.
The new Xiaomi Mi CC9 Meitu Edition smartphone is offered at $378 (CNY 2,599). It will be sold in a unique pearl white colorway.
