Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi is back with their newest addition to the midrange series, the Xiaomi Redmi 5. The Redmi 5 is the best of Redmi series, the new device isn’t ready for the streamlined bezel-less design yet. But we can spot a major reduction of bezels compared to its predecessor.
Xiaomi Redmi 5 DESIGN
More stylish than its predecessor, the new Redmi 5 is a beauty to behold. With curved edges and a slim overall look, measuring 7.7mm slim and weighing just 157g. The main body was designed with metal, while the back cover has a plastic feel.
The fingerprint scanner was also mounted at the back for easy access. The smartphone is quite stunning for a midrange and is available in Black, Gold, Pink and Blue colours.
Xiaomi Redmi 5 DISPLAY
It sports a standard 5.7-inch IPS LCD screen, with 720 x 1440 pixels screen resolution. A near bezel-less look with 282 ppi density, should give you the entertainment you sure deserve. Unlike previous Redmi smartphones, Xiaomi achieved a 75.72% screen to body ratio on the Redmi 5. The improved display on the smartphone is 20% sharper and clearer than its predecessor.
HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE
Redmi 5 houses the Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 chipset with an Octa-core processor. Its graphics processing unit is the Adreno 506 by Qualcomm. For app launching and multitasking, it has 3GB of RAM, making the device run as smoothly as possible. It has 32GB internal storage to store all files and games, upgradeable to 128GB if you want. The smartphone runs on Android 7.1 Nougat OS with MIUI 9 skin on top.

Xiaomi Redmi 5 is equipped with a single 12MP camera with F2.2 aperture and 1.25 μm pixel size. Features of the camera include; Autofocus (Phase detection), Touch to focus, Face detection, Self-timer, Digital zoom and Geo-tagging. For shooting, there’s a Burst shooting mode, High Dynamic Range mode (HDR) and Panorama. For selfies, there’s a 5MP with flash at the front for all your selfie needs.
